Voice actors, based on some of the casting calls I have been seeing lately, I would like to share a quick list of green and red flags to help people out.

Red Flags:

🔴A casting director requiring you to join a Discord server just to be considered for a role.

🔴 Vague language around being paid.

🔴Vague language on whether or not you were shortlisted.

Green flags:

🟢 A proper email or submission address that feels professional.

🟢 A Google Doc or brief that clearly explains the project and how to submit.

🟢 Clear audition lines with character backstory, direction, and stated payment or usage.

🟢 A clear audition deadline, plus transparency about whether unsuccessful applicants will hear back.

I’m grateful for the work, but I currently have TWENTY active discord servers for projects I’ve been cast in. It’s extremely hard to check them and especially hard if the “announcements” channel is being used for community game nights and things that aren’t line delivery.
