DCD staff were excited to participate in the Hip-Hop and Miles event on the Beerline Trail this past weekend hosted by @socialxmke and @FEARMKE as part of the City of Milwaukee’s Hip-Hop Week MKE 2025.  DCD and the Department of Public Works have been working for more than a decade along with community partners including Riverworks Development Corporation to extend the Beerline Trail through the Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods and bring new art and amenities to the trail, and participants in Hip-Hop and Miles got to see the progress up close while enjoying some time outdoors and celebrating Hip-Hop in Milwaukee.  Thank you to Ald. Russell Stamper for leading this year’s Hip-Hop Week, @MayorMKE for kicking off the event, and to Kuumba Juice and Coffee for serving up great drinks and breakfast for participants (and showing the amazing results in turning this former city-owned foreclosed property into an anchor for community gathering along the Trail).

What an incredible weekend in Milwaukee! From the @FEARMKE Hip Hop Run to the @milwaukeeMPS Run Back to School, the YMCA Miracle League All Star Game and more, it was great to see families, neighbors and young people coming together across our city.
