And just like that, the #FEASSA2026 Games come to a close.

What a week it has been! From intense competition to moments of sportsmanship, East Africa’s young athletes showcased talent, discipline and resilience every step of the way.

Congratulations to all the teams, athletes and schools who took home medals, trophies and individual accolades.

EADB is proud to have partnered with FEASSA in supporting the growth and nurturing of young sporting talent across East Africa.

The FEASSA Games 2026 have come to a successful conclusion in Morogoro, Tanzania, marking another significant milestone in the growth and development of school sport in East Africa.

I would like to sincerely thank the East African Development Bank (@EADB_Official) for its invaluable support towards these Games. Your partnership and investment in school sport demonstrates the importance of supporting the next generation of athletes and leaders in our region.

This edition has been historic, bringing together more than 8,000 participants from across East Africa. The increased numbers and level of competition are a clear demonstration of the growing strength, popularity and impact of FEASSA. We are witnessing stronger teams, improved standards and greater competition across the different sporting disciplines.

I congratulate all the winners, medalists and participating teams for their commitment, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the Games. To every athlete who competed, you are all champions for representing your schools and countries with pride.

I extend our deepest appreciation to the Government and people of Tanzania, and particularly the people of Morogoro, for hosting us and giving FEASSA a warm welcome. Your hospitality and commitment helped make these Games a success.

I also thank all FEASSA Member Associations, their leaders, coaches, officials, schools, teachers, parents and volunteers for their continued commitment to the growth of school sport in East Africa. FEASSA belongs to all of us, and its continued growth depends on our collective effort.

As we look ahead, Rwanda will host the next edition of the FEASSA Games. I congratulate Rwanda and look forward to another successful championship that will build on the standards we have established in Morogoro.

Going forward, FEASSA will continue to strengthen the Games and expand its impact beyond competition. Cultural activities will receive greater attention, with the Cultural Night to be judged by cultural experts, while a special Cultural Award will be introduced and presented at the end of the programme.

We are also working towards establishing a permanent FEASSA Secretariat in Nairobi, alongside a mini-secretariat operating from the country of the sitting FEASSA President, to strengthen coordination, administration and service delivery to our Member Associations.

I further call upon all FEASSA Member Associations to consider bidding to host FASS and ISF championships. Hosting these international competitions will give our region greater exposure, strengthen our sporting infrastructure and create more opportunities for our young athletes.

FEASSA will also engage relevant authorities across East Africa on the possibility of harmonising school holidays so that regional championships can be organised at times that are favourable to all Member Associations, while ensuring that participation in sport continues to complement, rather than disrupt, academic programmes.

The journey does not end in Morogoro. We have set a higher standard, and together we must continue to raise it.

Thank you to everyone who made FEASSA Games 2026 a success. Let us continue to build a stronger, more competitive and united school sports movement in East Africa.

Team Uganda officials, led by the Leader of Delegation, Rev. Canon Dr. Duncans Mugumya, Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports, today attended the FEASSA Sports Symposium in Morogoro, Tanzania.

Organized by the Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSA) and chaired by FEASSA President Justus Mugisha, the symposium was held under the theme, “Sports Talent Development Pathways in East Africa: From School Sport to Regional and Global Excellence.”

The symposium brought together sports leaders and stakeholders from across East Africa to discuss talent identification, development and the creation of sustainable pathways for young athletes to progress from school sport to regional and global competition.

The discussions also emphasized the importance of strengthening school sports as a foundation for nurturing talent and promoting excellence across the region.
