In 2018, $META was granted a 100% forty year waiver on property taxes for a datacenter in Eagle Mountain, worth some $750 million.
Last week Tyson Foods $TSN announced the closure of beef packing plant in Eagle Mountain resulting in the loss of 723 jobs.
Three days later the town council approved a 70% increase in property taxes for local residents. This was only after public outrage forced the repeal of an earlier 183% increase.
@RepThomasMassie From my understanding we need to go after the big meat processing plants and producers. Bring back more smaller farmers and local producers/processors.
@quakes99 Nothing burger so far. "Kazatomprom now expects commissioning of the plant to be delayed by between six and 12 months. However, the company currently anticipates no material effect on its uranium mining operations as a result of the postponement". We'll see how it boils out.
The island on a Ford Class carrier weighs in around 550 tonnes. The entire ship design, buoyancy, and weight distribution are calculated meticulously. Load bearing structures are built in to take the mass of the island, as are hard cabling and power / sanitation runs etc /1
It’s such a relief that people’s retirement accounts, already historically concentrated in the stocks of these companies, will now also be concentrated in the complex debt instruments those same companies are all hiding from their balance sheets.
That big drop in Chinese oil imports never sat right with me. The question is, were the geopolitical headlines masking a demand signal and to what extent?
@RichardHanania This is what happens when you vote for common concerns and your vote not only doesn't matter but those promises are never kept nor filled. Radical ideas is what you get when normal political mechanisms don't solve problems.
