Angelica Kauffman RA
(1741-1807)
Born in Switzerland, she was the daughter of the muralist Johann Joseph Kauffman. She received artistic training while acting as her father's assistant from a very young age and copying the works of Old Masters as they traveled for commissions.
All her life, she enjoyed international patronage such as the family of George III in Britain, Grand Duke Paul and Prince Nikolay Yusupov in Russia, Queen Caroline of Naples and Emperor Joseph II of Austria among others.
