For interest the 1st bombing over the UK was over Shetland & the first downed German fighter was near Edinburgh

@Spijker51 I agree with you wholeheartedly. There should be a specific English anthem. However using Rule Britannia is inappropriate. It is a song about Britain not England and the power of the Royal Navy which is a British service recruiting from all of Britain. Jerusalem 👍❤️

Absolute mince, so allow me to respond to this tartan tin foil hat brigade! I’m sick of the utter garbage they spout!

The idea that Scotland is a “hidden colony” is not just historically illiterate, it’s an insult to the very nation this person claims to defend.

We built ships that crossed the world. We have mountains and seas named for our explorers. We led the Enlightenment. We engineered industries that powered continents. We founded universities others still envy. We were generals, inventors, philosophers, and statesmen. We are NOT some gagged underclass needing to be rescued. A people with Scotland’s proud legacy does not need fabricated chains to justify our worth.

If Westminster were an imperial master, we were hardly the subservient cousin. Scotland has steered Britain’s direction countless times: socially, militarily, intellectually, economically. We’ve produced Prime Ministers, driven legislation, led regiments feared and respected worldwide. We forged the Empire in the fire of our might, we didn’t cower beneath it.

Our country stands in the Union by choice, with representation, votes, devolved powers, and we are the only part of the U.K. who has had a vote on whether we stay or go. That’s not colonisation.

The tragic thing is this melodramatic victimhood from Nats sells Scotland short. It reduces our nation of world-shapers into a pretend prisoner. It swaps our pride for paranoia. It tells me and my fellow Scots to see themselves as oppressed rather than powerful.

I’m proud to be Scottish, not because someone tells me we’re fragile, but because history proves we’re anything but. We’re innovators. Fighters. Builders. Thinkers. We don’t need fantasy chains to feel significant. Our achievements speak louder than any conspiracy can shout.

And I refuse to let anyone rewrite our past into a a pathetic tragedy just to justify their narrow insular politics.

I’ll leave you with this from The Bard:

@nick_anstead @KennyFarq That certainly wasn’t my experience as a G band property owner in Edinburgh where my 2017-18 council tax increased by 26% in a single year. That’s a £612 increase. The average for band G was in fact £335.

The driver drove back from a Heathrow drop off back to Richmond to return it. Your Scottish exceptionalism with a sprinkling of Islam is nauseating. Kindness is universal.
