FADE OF THE WEEK: Malik Nabers (NYG) @ HOU
ECR has him WR10. I have him WR21.
Nabers is back. There's no disputing that.
Over his last three games: 29 receptions, 398 yards, 2 TDs, and 26.9 PPR points per game.
But now J.J. McCarthy takes over.
And we've seen what that means for elite WR production.
Justin Jefferson in 10 games with McCarthy last season:
8.0 targets/game
4.4 receptions/game
53.7 receiving yards/game
Just 2 TDs
As incredible as Nabers is, he's still not Jefferson.
McCarthy averaged just 163.2 passing yards per start last season.
But what about those 243 fourth-quarter yards against New Orleans? He's totally turned the corner right? RIGHT?!?!
Well, McCarthy finished DEAD LAST (29th of 29) among Week 6 quarterbacks in catchable pass rate.
The Giants trailed 34-10, faced soft zone coverage, and McCarthy still couldn't consistently deliver catchable footballs.
Different jersey. Same accuracy problems.
I'm not fading Malik Nabers' talent.
I'm fading the guy responsible for getting him the football.
⬇️ FADE BY NUMBERS BELOW ⬇️
Jonah Coleman turned 9 carries into 54 yards (6.0 YPC).
Take away his longest run of 15 yards, and he still averaged 4.9 YPC.
He led Denver’s backfield in carries and snaps, looked like their best runner, and Sean Payton said he needs more touches.
Now let’s see if that usage carries into Week 8.
I think it’s time we have the conversation about Ollie Gordon being a legit starter week in and week out. He’s been better than Achane was when healthy too the data shows!
Achane 1 vs. Raiders 10.6
Achane 2 vs. 49ers 12.3
Gordon 3 vs. Chiefs 14.5
Gordon 4 vs. Vikings 18.0
Gordon 5 vs. Bengals 14.8
I’m buying everywhere I can he’s going to be a viable option for a long time to come!
