Kenneth Walker Last Season…
- 88.5 Overall PFF Grade (2nd)
- 0.28 Missed Tackle Rate (1st)
- 8.1% Explosive Run Rate (2nd)
- 5.2 Yards Per Touch (12th)
This was while he faced the 2nd most stacked boxes
And now he joins the Chiefs who face the least stacked boxes every year
All while being the workhorse back as well
Don’t overthink it… K9 season is here🚀
Here’s how I see it…
1) Bijan
❌Bad situation
🔥Elite player
🔥Elite performance
2) Gibbs
✅ Great situation
🔥Elite player
🔥Elite performance
You could make the argument that this favors Gibbs as the #1 guy here, and I don’t blame you if you do.
The flip side is that Bijan has proved he can provide elite production even in a bad situation.
But again, I hold that Bijan-over-Gibbs stance loosely.
However, with Jeanty and Love…
3) Jeanty
❓Improving situation
🔥Elite player
😒Okay performance
4) Love
❌Bad situation
🔥Elite player
❓Unknown performance
For Jeanty or Love to join the top tier, their situation either needs to vastly improve — leading to elite performance (see Gibbs) —- or they need to provide elite performance despite a great situation (see Bijan).
But they need elite performance one way or another.
By next summer, suspect that Jeanty will be in his own mini tier at #3 with Love in a situation identical to Jeanty this summer.
Summer ‘27 Prediction:
Tier 1: Bijan/Gibbs
Tier 2: Jeanty
Tier 3: Love (and whoever else can make the jump)
I don't think people understand why drafting Brock Bowers or Trey McBride in the 2nd round is such an insane advantage.
Consider this: McBride scored 315 fantasy points last year. The next closest tight end was over 100 fantasy points behind him. Plus, only 9 other non-QB players even cleared 300 fantasy points in general.
The positional edge here is insane. You see a lot of people say to just wait for Fannin etc but these other tight ends are not the same threats to dominate the position like Bowers and McBride have both already done.
Not only is one of them very likely to blow past the field, but the positional dominance is severe since most leagues only allow you to start one TE. This does change in TEP to a degree and in leagues with a lot of FLEX spots, but the point still stands.
Consider this: No RB or WR you're drafting in round 2 over Bowers/McBride is a realistically safe bet to get the 315 fantasy points McBride did last year. Not just that, but you can probably wait 1-2 rounds and get equals like Egbuka, DeVonta, Kyren, Breece, and on and on.
You can certainly make the case that either McBride/Bowers repeating what McBride did last year is a reach. But I'd argue it's just as much of a reach for any 2nd round RB/WR putting up better numbers than them.
FWIW, McBride is still viable in round 2, but I am definitely leaning super hard into Brock, who I think takes his place at the top this year.
