This post actually does more harm than good and it actually makes events in the US even more unsafe

Mind your business, follow the rules, do what you came to do (aka play and have a good time) and you’ll be fine

Locals are more than just going to play a bracket

It's networking with people
It's making friends and going out for food after
It's playing casuals with someone that can explain you what's going on in a matchup quickly

If you only see it as "tiping top players" you failed
