El Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield informa que presentó formalmente ante el Tribunal de Disciplina de la AFA la protesta e impugnación del partido disputado el pasado 2 de septiembre frente a Boca Juniors por los octavos de final de la Copa Argentina.

La presentación se funda en un hecho objetivo y documentado: Boca Juniors incluyó en la planilla oficial del encuentro a seis futbolistas extranjeros cuando la normativa vigente establece un máximo de cinco habilitados para integrarla. La situación surge de la propia planilla oficial del partido y de los registros del sistema COMET de la AFA.

No se trata de una cuestión de interpretación ni de una discusión arbitral. Se trata del cumplimiento de una regla vigente y de una documentación oficial que acredita su incumplimiento.

Por ese motivo, Vélez solicitó que se declare configurada la alineación indebida y, en consecuencia, se reconozca la clasificación de nuestra institución a los cuartos de final de la Copa Argentina. Asimismo, se requirió la suspensión de los efectos deportivos de la clasificación atribuida a Boca hasta tanto exista una resolución definitiva sobre la protesta.

Vélez defenderá esta posición por las vías institucionales correspondientes porque entiende que la igualdad ante las reglas no puede ser optativa.

What I don’t understand is why people never made this kind of fuss over the years about players like Roy Keane, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Rüdiger, Casemiro, Carvajal, Chiellini, Gattuso, Diego Costa, Gabi, Koke, or Materazzi?

Is the outrage only different because Paredes happens to wear an Argentina shirt?

Argentina never got the respect they deserved.

I’ve never seen a national team receive this much hate for simply winning. Instead of giving credit to a team that has dominated world football for the last five years, social media became full of edited clips, AI-generated images, fake quotes, misleading posts and out-of-context videos, all made to discredit what this team achieved.

The worst part is that many people didn’t even care if it was true. If it got engagement, they shared it. If it pushed another anti-Argentina narrative, they believed it. That’s how low football discussion became. Imagine how empty your life has to be that your only way of getting attention is by spreading lies and fake propaganda about other people.

Every foul was analyzed frame by frame. Every referee decision became a conspiracy. Every victory had to come with an excuse. I’ve never seen another team get microanalyzed like this just because they kept winning.

A lot of this comes down to one thing: Lionel Messi, who is far better player than their favorite player, far better, far talented and achieved far more in the sport so as they see that Messi is better than their favorite player, instead of accepting it they looked for ways to discredit him and the team around him.

During this World Cup, people threw every label they could at Argentina. Racists. Zionists. Cheaters. Corrupt. All based on viral posts, fake quotes, edited clips or AI-generated content, without caring whether any of it was actually true.

They spent years trying to convince people that Argentina and these players didn’t deserve what they achieved.

The truth is that, they couldn’t accept that Lionel Messi and this generation reached a level their favorites never did.

No amount of propaganda can rewrite football history. And history will remember this Argentina team as one of the best international sides ever.
