🚨 OFFICIAL: Pro Ref confirm “an error of judgement” in Haaland’s goal — also informing Man United directly.

“Following the incident in the 60th minute of Sunday's Premier League fixture between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford, we can provide clarification regarding Erling Haaland’s awarded goal.

“The on-field decision was offside against Erling Haaland – that was checked by VAR and he was found to be in an onside position.

“In the same attack, it was established that Enzo Fernandez did not play the ball and therefore that makes any offside offence subjective, however, on this occasion, the VAR did not recognise the likely impact of his position and should have recommended an on-field review.

It’s very telling how parts of Brazilian media have framed the defeat to Norway.

The narrative to single out individual players while insisting that Carlo Ancelotti’s system was fundamentally sound, the plan was correct, everything was under control, and the players simply failed to execute it.

That framing is extraordinary.

It absolves the one person actually responsible.

There has been little to no discussion of Ancelotti’s deeply negative, reactive, pragmatic approach. Ancelotti has stripped away the very principles that historically defined Brazilian football.

No mention of his selection errors, loyalty to underperforming players, his inability to recognise obvious tactical flaws. Nothing about a Brazil that rarely produced a convincing performance for twelve months. Silence over a manager who never truly understood the Brazilian footballer or the footballing culture that produced them.

Brazil have been taken further and further away from its own footballing identity.

The protagonist has disappeared, and Ancelotti has replaced it with a team programmed to wait, react and attack space rather than impose itself on the game.

The World Cup wasn’t lost because one or two players made mistakes. It was lost because Brazil arrived with a footballing model that reduces its players greatest strengths.

The defining mistake was Ancelotti’s. He failed to build a team around the qualities of his best players.

Many journalists seem incapable of entertaining this possibility. Their instinct is to ALWAYS conclude that the Brazilian player is the problem, and NEVER the ideology imposed upon them.

That is what years of Eurocentrism does.

It conditions people to believe that if Brazil fails while copying Europe, then the fault must STILL lie with Brazil, not with the decision to abandon the footballing culture that made Brazil unique in the first place.

In the coming months, as Ancelotti rebuilds his squad you WILL see this narrative pushed even further.

The next argument will be that Brazil was still too Brazilian, that Ancelotti simply didn’t have enough time to fully implement his ideas.

The implication is always the same: if it failed, it wasn’t because the philosophy was flawed; it was because Brazil hadn’t embraced it completely.

That the solution is even MORE Europeanisation, to stray even further from the footballing culture that shaped generations of Brazilian players.

Pay very close attention to the people who promote these ideas.

They present themselves as objective analysts but they see Brazil’s identity as something to be corrected, or replaced.

The most damaging attacks on Brazilian football rarely come from the outside. They are enemies of Brazilian football.
