Mr. Paul Duku Sworo was recognised as the best-performing student in the Master’s Degree in Local Governance and Human Rights at Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi, for the 2025/2026 class. In recognition of his outstanding achievement, FHRI presented him with a Human Rights Award.

Ms. Claire Kabubu, a former death row prisoner, sharing her personal testimony of being sentenced to death in Iran and recounting her experiences, the challenges she endured while imprisoned, and her eventual release.

Studies suggest that some countries that have abolished the death penalty have recorded declines in serious crimes, challenging the assumption that retaining capital punishment necessarily deters crime. The evidence remains mixed and no conclusive link has been established.
