Karelia is a Finnic land. It was the historic spiritual homeland of Baltic Finnic peoples until Novgorod stole it from us.

Pegrema'd name specifically stems from a local Finnic/Karelian topographical root ('pökry,' meaning a sandy slope or hill), which was corrupted into a Slavic form.

Physically, Pegrema may be located in Russian territory, but spiritually, ethnically and linguistically, it was Finnic and remains Finnic.
