Did you know plimsolls were named after a ship’s hull? The plimsoll line on a ship’s hull is a load line. MP Samuel Plimsoll who rallied for regulations in the shipping industry inspired the name on vessels. But it’s the distinctive line on ships that inspired the footwear name.
