The @_AfricanUnion through @AUC_PAPS-DDR & AUCTC convened a 2-day expert consultative workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to validate the research report on the nexus between illicit proliferation of #SALW & #terrorism in Africa. The report aims to guide evidence-based policies that advance efforts to #SilencingtheGuns #AUC_PAPS; #AUCTCentre
The workshop was opened by the Acting Director of AUCTC Mr. Idriss Mounir Lallali, on behalf of the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security. He reiterated the #AUC commitment to breaking the unholy alliance between illicit arms and terrorism as an effective way of #SilencingtheGuns on the continent.
The workshop brought together experts and practitioners from AU Member States and #RECs to review the study findings on #SALW & #terrorism linkages, share best practices & lessons learned and strengthen coordinated responses to illicit arms flows fueling terrorism.
Yesterday, the UNDP launched the report titled “The Future of Governance in the Sahel: (Re)building Social Cohesion and Public “ in Banjul,Gambia - https://t.co/1lf5OV8wks. I am honored to have co-authored a chapter titled “Looking Back to Get the Future of Governance Right.”
From 15–16 April 2025, the #WANEP–SSRC–CORNWA #PolicyDialogue explored key issues in peace & governance in West Africa.
