A young waitress was serving a table of three men in a restaurant.

They were loud.
Mocking her accent.
Laughing when she mispronounced a word.

She stayed calm and kept smiling.

Two hours later, a well-dressed man walked in.
The manager rushed to greet him.

It was the restaurant owner.

He walked straight to the waitress.

“Are you okay?” he asked softly.

He had been sitting quietly at a corner table the whole time.

The three men went silent.

Before leaving, the owner told the manager,
“Promote her. Anyone who can stay professional under pressure can lead.”

Sometimes the test isn’t about skill.
