Partnerships like this help deputies provide the safest response to incidents involving a mental health crisis. Thank you for spotlighting this great work, @JSOPIO !

[Jax Sheriff's Office @JSOPIO]

When someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, the right response can make all the difference.

On this episode of Inside JSO, go behind the scenes of our Behavioral Crisis Response Unit. This unit pairs our specially trained officers with civilian licensed mental health professionals who ride together as “co-responders” to mental health calls.

The officer provides safety for the counselor to go in and bring comfort and resources during what may be someone’s darkest moment. We believe mental health care and access to resources are crucial, and our Behavioral Crisis Response Unit helps bring that directly to the people who need them most.

Moderated by our Multimedia Manager Ashley Harding, our Behavioral Crisis Response Unit episode of Inside JSO is available on YouTube and everywhere you get your podcasts.

In this final episode of our four-part FSAcast series on Amendment 3, we explore how changes to local property tax revenue could affect Florida sheriffs' offices, including law enforcement staffing, emergency response times, training, equipment, and technology.

As Florida communities grow, so does the demand for public safety services. What happens if local revenue declines but the need for those services remains the same? Listen before you vote to learn more about Amendment 3 and what it could mean for your community.

Slowing down and moving over when you see flashing lights is not an option. It's the law. We are wishing Corporal Bruce well in her recovery.

[HCSO @HCSOSheriff]

Last night, Corporal Niomi Bruce’s patrol vehicle was struck from behind while she was assisting at a crash scene on I-75. The damage makes clear how much worse this could have been.

This afternoon, Sheriff Chad Chronister visited Corporal Bruce at Tampa General Hospital, where she was remarkably, in high spirits and is now released from the hospital. We’re thankful she’s recovering and will soon be back with her HCSO family.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Let this be a reminder: when you see flashing lights on the roadside, slow down and move over. It’s the law, and it saves lives.

Grandmothers play such an important role in the lives of so many children. We love this story. Thank you for sharing, @WCSOFL 🙏🏽

“She didn’t speak English, so we only communicated in Spanish, nothing else. But I learned English in school. She was my everything."

@WCSOFL Sergeant Oscar D’Lassalas, an Air Force Veteran, was born in New Jersey. One of his parents is from Colombia, and the other is from Puerto Rico. With both parents working two jobs, he credits his grandmother with raising him.

Thank you @WJHG_TV for telling his story during #HispanicHeritageMonth.

Please look carefully at this video, which shows what was happening in the moments before a shooting that killed 18-year-old Jordan Lecky. Parents, especially of teens in northeast Orange County or Seminole County, please watch this carefully with your teenagers to see if they can identify anyone in the video. An 18-year-old is dead, and dozens of people were right there when it happened. Someone saw something. We need people to come forward to help us find the person who pulled the trigger.

Just after 11 p.m. on October 17, deputies responded to the Lakeside Villas apartments at 7950 Shoals Dr. for a noise complaint about a group of nearly 100 people, mostly in their late teens, who had congregated near the pool area behind the leasing office.

As the first responding deputy was approaching, he activated his lights and sirens to disperse the crowd. Several partygoers began to scatter in response – and just as that happened, the responding deputy heard a single gunshot coming from behind the leasing office. That deputy discovered a young man, later identified as Jordan Lecky, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died on October 19. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, and our detectives want desperately to solve this case.

Although dozens of people were there when the gunshot rang out, only two witnesses stayed behind to meet with deputies. They told detectives a fight broke out and then a single gunshot went off, striking Jordan.

While reviewing available video of the fight, it became clear to detectives that at least a dozen bystanders were taking video of the fight with their phones. We know someone saw something that could help detectives solve this case, and we need them to come forward.

Anyone with information – no matter how insignificant it may seem – please contact the OCSO non-emergency line at 407-836-4357 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. If you have any video from the fight, or the moments leading up to or after the gunshot, our detectives would like to review it.

Programs like Matrix House are a great example of how Florida sheriffs help strengthen the communities they serve. Thank you, @JSOPIO, for supporting individuals as they work toward recovery and a fresh start.

[Jax Sheriff's Office @JSOPIO]

‘Trust the process.’

Our Matrix House program supports individuals arrested for drug-related offenses as they take steps toward recovery, accountability, and a fresh start.

Our role is in facilitating the program through the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and the Community Transition Center as well as providing security and housing. The Community Rehabilitation Center and its staff provide guidance, encouragement, and resources to help participants through their journey to rebuilding their lives.

Cherry recently graduated from the program, and her story shows what can happen when someone gets the opportunity and support needed to turn their life around. She committed to the process and came out stronger on the other side.

Cherry’s story reminds us that an arrest does not have to define a person’s future.

I'm incredibly privileged to be an honorary deputy of Sheriff Mac McNeill of Jefferson County.

Sheriff McNeill defended our nation as a United States Marine and served on the protective detail of three Florida Governors. He is highly-valued! Thank you Sir! @FLSheriffs 🇺🇸🍊

51-year-old Jorge De La Cruz from Kissimmee got #ArrestedByThePolkCountySheriffsOffice on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

At around 1:30 pm on Wednesday, a PCSO deputy was on I-4 near Lakeland when he noticed a 2023 Chrysler 300 weaving through traffic across multiple lanes at a high rate of speed.

The Chrysler was determined to be moving at 103 mph in a 70 mph zone.

A traffic stop was performed and the driver was identified as Jorge De La Cruz.

According to the arrest affidavit, Mr. De La Cruz apologized for going so fast, but he said he was going to the hospital to visit his mother.

Traveling over 100 mph on the interstate is definitely one way to get to a hospital, we will give him that. We also gave him a trip to the Sheriff's Processing Center and charges for Reckless Driving (M2) and Dangerous Excessive Speeding (M2).

[Florida Sheriffs Association @FLSheriffs]

Amendment 3 guts the largest funding source for public safety in Florida. Fewer deputies, longer waits for an ambulance, slower 911. Amendment 3 is too good to be true.

[Jax Sheriff's Office @JSOPIO]

Just because your car can go 135 miles per hour doesn't mean you should.

Officer Nicholas Whisman with our Specialized Traffic Enforcement Unit was driving on I-95 when a dark car raced, and we mean raced, by.

The traffic stop went from I-95 to I-10, and just before reaching the ramps to I-295, the driver finally decided to pull over and get out of the car.

Behind the wheel? 22-year-old Zyon Jackson, who told Officer Whisman he was just 'enjoying his night'. Jackson was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving 100MPH or more, Reckless Driving, and Speeding in a Work Zone. Jackson also received a citation for driving with an open bottle of tequila in the car.

To make matters worse, Jackson was speeding that fast through an active construction zone. There were workers present, and Jackson's speeding put their lives in danger. Not cool.

Drive safe and sober, Duval.

October is National Crime Prevention Month.

Crime prevention starts with small, everyday actions. Lock your doors, keep valuables out of sight, report suspicious activity, and look out for your neighbors.

Florida's sheriffs are committed to keeping our communities safe, and we can all play a role in helping prevent crime before it happens.

A 53-year-old cold case featured on the Cold Case Florida podcast in 2025 has been solved.

In a special episode, investigators explain how they identified the person who murdered sisters Maggie and Mary Jenkins in the Florida Keys in 1973. Decades of investigation, careful evidence preservation, and advances in forensic analysis and genetic genealogy led the @keyssheriff and the @fdlepio to David Allen Snyder.

Congratulations to everyone involved for bringing justice to the Jenkins family and for never giving up. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or at https://t.co/wBLG2Sdaq3.

The Florida Sheriffs Association joins our law enforcement family in mourning the tragic line of duty death of @BrevardSheriff Homicide Agent Kevin Morris, who lost his life early this morning after his vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 in Titusville.

Agent Morris dedicated years of his life to protecting and serving others, first with the Palm Bay Police Department and, for the past five years, with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. His distinguished career was marked by numerous letters of commendations, service awards, and a Life Saving Award.

The profound heartbreak in Sheriff Wayne Ivey’s voice as he shared this devastating news speaks to the immeasurable loss felt by his agency and the entire law enforcement family. It is a painful reminder that behind every badge is a life dedicated to service, a family who sacrifices alongside them, and brothers and sisters in uniform who feel this loss deeply.

Today, Florida’s sheriffs stand united in grief and prayer for Agent Morris’s family, Sheriff Ivey, and every member of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

We will never forget Agent Morris’s service, his sacrifice, or the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.

[Florida Sheriffs Association @FLSheriffs]

The Florida Sheriffs Association Task Force allows for sheriffs from all over the state to stand with one another and become a force multiplier to assist with rescue and recovery efforts for communities that have been impacted.

Prayers for a safe deployment.

To the knuckleheads thinking about using this storm's power outages and evacuations to break in, loot, or steal: don't even try it.

During an emergency, these crimes become first-degree felonies, punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
