That said, Tesla needs infomercials. The level of knowledge for regular people about Tesla is very low, and often inaccurate.
@elonmusk could hold a contest and get them made for free (or near free.) The Tesla Community would gladly make them. All Elon would need to do is hold a contest with some goodies.
To me it says they got more compute online than they need because of better planning. Meanwhile others are struggling to get more capacity online and are willing to rent.
Amazon created a whole successful sub business with AWS doing effectively the same thing for non-AI capacity.

The tech impact is big, the impact on Apple's sales is possibly bigger. - People can rent out their mac to be part of a distributed AI server. Possibly hundreds $ a month in pay.
Apple said this couldn't be done on the M4 (that their silicon could do inference-only) but it not only works but does so very efficiently.
The project team is working on making other Apple chips work now. - They plan to pay recipients for their computer time. Your idle Mac (even a mini) becomes a stealth AI node sipping 2-3W which is way lower than a data center.
- Important to note, this means that Apple can do this too if they wanted (perhaps that is their plan). If you are planning to play with it, you may want to turn off Apple auto-updates right away, Apple may try to patch this breakthrough away.
