When #Isaias tried to rain on this Florida couple’s big day, Florida State Parks got the job done.
David and Nicole’s wedding was scheduled to take place at Eden Gardens State Park just a few days after Hurricane Isaias’ landfall. Park staff and a strike team worked together to clear the area for the wedding, and thanks to their hard work, David and Nicole got to have their special day as planned.
Congratulations to the happy couple!

Indian Key Historic State Park was once a busy island community in the 1830s. People lived and worked in a small village with homes, a store and docks. The town grew because wreckers used the island as a base to help ships that crashed on nearby reefs.
Everything changed in 1840 during the Second Seminole War, when the settlement was attacked and destroyed. Today, visitors can walk past old stone foundations and imagine what life was like in this once‑active island community.

Boat tours are nothing new for Silver Springs State Park.
In the late 1800s, visitors began riding simple wooden boats across the crystal‑clear water to see fish, plants and the bright sandy bottom. As tourism grew, guides started using glass‑bottom boats, which let people look straight through the floor into the spring. These tours quickly became the park’s signature experience and drew travelers from all over the country.
Today, glass‑bottom boat tours continue the tradition and remain one of the most recognizable parts of the park’s story.

National Public Lands Day is here, and Florida State Parks are celebrating the natural areas that belong to everyone. Public lands protect clean water, wildlife habitat and the outdoor spaces people enjoy for hiking, paddling and learning about nature.
Across the state, volunteers help with trail work, litter removal and other projects that keep parks healthy. These efforts support conservation and make sure parks stay welcoming for future visitors.
National Public Lands Day reminds us that these places thrive when communities care for them.

Troy Spring State Park is a great place to get out on the water and enjoy one of the clearest springs along the Suwannee River. The spring stays around 72 degrees, giving swimmers and snorkelers cool, steady conditions throughout the year. The basin opens into a wide run with bright underwater views, fish and turtles.
Paddlers can launch from the riverbank and paddle through a calm stretch of river lined with cypress and hardwoods. The remains of the Madison, a Civil War steamboat, rest near the river bottom and add a unique historic stop for those traveling by water.
