I don't think the Fed or any government entity should be setting the price of money. That's a communist principle that I don't believe in. But that aside, no, I think that rates should actually be increased here because inflation is still the bigger problem and we never got close to their 2% target (inflation has averaged 4% since the start of 2020). The Fed's #1 job should be sound money - everything else is secondary to that. And the idea that they can precisely control the labor market with interest rate policy is a complete fallacy. Even if it were true why would we want a governmental body setting the supply and demand for labor? Inevitably, as human beings they would screw that up, causing more harm than good. Same reason why we don't have the Fed control the number of cars we produce or bananas to sell in supermarkets. Because the free market does a better job.
