@SandyofCthulhu Interesting takes. I seriously doubt Japan would have been better off if the Sengoku period dragged on for even longer. It would have ended in a shogunate regardless. Given the state of the Ilkhanate, I also doubt the Mongols would have been better masters than the Mamluks.
