I’m Generation X.
Born between 1964 and 1979, we were the last generation that played outside until the streetlights came on.
We were the first to grow up with video games… and the last to sit by the radio with a blank cassette, fingers hovering over “Record” to catch our favorite songs.
Friday and Saturday nights meant lacing up roller skates, hitting the rink, and gliding under disco balls. We survived the wild ’80s — big hair, shoulder pads, neon everything, and zero helicopter parents.
We bridged analog and digital, freedom and technology. We remember life before the internet… and we turned out just fine.
Never be afraid to glorify God.
Amazing to see Team USA on the biggest stage there is at the World Cup praying after the game.
God is with us.

The middle class is the most expensive place to live, and no one talks about it. Lower income households get assistance. The wealthy use tax strategies and loopholes. But the middle class pays full taxes, full tuition, full healthcare, full everything. So you work 50 hours a week just to stay in the same place and fund everyone’s life except yours.
When I was Muslim, I used to ask Christians:
“If Jesus was really God, why did He eat, sleep, and bleed like us?”
And honestly, I used to ask it with pride like it was some unbeatable argument.
But later I realized something:
That question was not exposing Christianity.
It was exposing my misunderstanding of what kind of God Jesus claimed to be.
Because the real question is not:
“Why would God become weak?”
The real question is:
“What kind of God would willingly step into human suffering at all?”
Islam taught me about a God who was distant and untouchable.
But Christianity introduced me to a God who stepped into hunger, exhaustion, grief, pain, betrayal, blood, and suffering with us.
And suddenly His humanity stopped feeling like weakness to me.
It became proof of love.
If Jesus ate, it means He came close enough to experience hunger beside us.
If He slept, it means He embraced the exhaustion we carry.
If He bled, it means He did not stand above suffering watching us from a distance.
He entered it Himself.
Philippians 2 says Christ emptied Himself and took on flesh.
Not because He stopped being God, but because He wanted humanity to finally see what God is actually like.
And it turns out God is willing to suffer for the people He loves.
That changed everything for me.
Because every other religion demanded sacrifice from humanity.
Jesus became the sacrifice Himself.
And no prophet in history ever claimed that.
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
Before we go off to enjoy our burgers, beers, and beaches, it's worth remembering that these few days that lie ahead of us are so much more than just a three-day weekend.
I'll have more to say on Memorial Day itself, but for now, let's keep a spirit of gratitude with us as we approach the holiday. God bless you all, and God bless this great country of ours.
“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”
— Charles Bukowski
Peace begins in the human heart, passes through relationships, takes root in neighborhoods and peripheries, and expands until it embraces the entire city and the world. Peace is built by promoting a culture that rejects violence, through daily gestures, education, and practical acts of justice. #PastoralVisit #Naples
Pope Leo when he realized the cardinals were about to elect him:
“I took a deep breath, I said here we go Lord, you’re in charge, you lead the way” #Conclave#1Year🎂
Pope Leo XIV tonight in Castel Gandolfo:
“I have been speaking out ever since I was elected. The anniversary is almost here. I said, ‘Peace be with you,' and the Church’s mission is to preach the Gospel, to preach peace. If anyone wishes to criticize me for proclaiming the Gospel, let them do so with the truth. The Church has spoken out for years against all nuclear weapons, so there is no doubt about this, and I simply hope to be heard for the sake of the Word of God. Thank you."
About two months after Robert Francis Prevost became Pope Leo XIV, he put in a call to his bank back home, a close friend, the Rev. Tom McCarthy, told a gathering of Catholics last week. The new pope identified himself as Robert Prevost, saying that he wished to change the phone number and address that the bank had on file. The pope answered the security questions correctly. Then, the woman on the line for the bank told him that it wasn’t enough — he would have to come to the branch in person. “He said, ‘Well, I’m not going to be able to do that,’” Father McCarthy said in a video clip shared on social media. The pope tried a different tack. “Would it matter to you if I told you I’m Pope Leo?” he asked, according to Father McCarthy. She hung up.

“Have faith,” Jesus tells us in the #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 14:1). That is the secret! It is precisely this faith that frees our hearts from the anxiety of possessing and acquiring, and from the illusion that we must pursue a position of prestige to have worth. Each person already has infinite worth in the mystery of God.
Congratulations to Karoline and her hubby ❤️

The day before he killed himself, Hitler tested his cyanide pills on his dog. The dog died in seconds.
By April 1945, Hitler was hiding 8 meters underground in a concrete bunker beneath Berlin. The Soviet army was 500 meters from his door. He was 56. After years of drug injections from his personal doctor, his left hand shook so badly he could barely sign his name. He had not seen daylight in 105 days.
April 20 was his birthday. He went up to the garden behind his headquarters and handed medals to boys from the Hitler Youth who were fighting Soviet tanks. It was the last time he saw the sun.
April 28: Hitler had Eva Braun's brother-in-law Hermann Fegelein, an SS general, shot in the garden for trying to flee Berlin in regular clothes.
April 29, just after midnight: Hitler married his longtime girlfriend Eva Braun. The ceremony was 10 minutes. She started writing her old last name on the marriage certificate, caught herself, and wrote "Hitler" instead. They served champagne afterward.
Later that afternoon, Hitler dictated his will. Then his doctor tested a cyanide pill on his German Shepherd Blondi. Her puppies were shot afterward.
April 30 at 3:30 PM: Hitler bit into a cyanide pill and shot himself in the right temple. Eva took cyanide alone, sitting next to him on the couch.
Their bodies were carried up to the garden, soaked with 200 liters of gasoline (about 4 full car tanks), and set on fire. Soviet soldiers captured the parliament building that same afternoon, 500 meters away.
The next day, Hitler's propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels and his wife Magda poisoned their 6 children in the bunker. Then they walked outside and killed themselves too.
Berlin surrendered 48 hours later. Germany followed within a week. A man who had ruled Germany for 12 years died in a concrete box with his wife of 40 hours and the ashes of his dog.
One week ago, I married off my youngest daughter. I can't put into words how proud I felt (she also just passed the bar in the top 0.05 percent!) or how bittersweet it is. Feels like just yesterday she could fit in the crook of my arm…
For me, it was a startling reminder that it goes by so quickly and we only get one go at it. So squeeze your loved ones tight, look them in the eye, and don't assume they know how much you love them—say it out loud. Early and often. You won't regret it.
“The Lord will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”(Psalm 121:7-8)
What was supposed to be a fun night at the @WHCA dinner with President Trump delivering jokes and celebrating free speech was hijacked by a depraved crazy person who sought to assassinate the President and kill as many top Trump administration officials as possible.
I was with President Trump and the First Lady back stage after we were quickly ushered to safety by Secret Service.
President Trump was truly fearless, but as he said last night, this political violence needs to end.
Thank you to law enforcement for keeping all of us safe, including the brave agent who took a bullet to the chest and immediately moved to neutralize the shooter.
Pray for our country.
