Infantino has effectively told Argentina that any punishment for displaying the Malvinas banner would only come after the World Cup. He even defended it as a legitimate expression of nationalism.

Now FIFA has seemingly cleared the path for them to display it again during the tournament without immediate consequences especially if they win the trophy.

Different rules for different teams. Argentina do whatever they want, while FIFA looks the other way.

The connection between FIFA and Argentina becomes harder to ignore with every passing day.

They can keep the trophy. Respect cannot be handed out by referees, VAR or football executives.
