Delighted to have helped BL save for the nation 5 exceptional medieval mss from Longleat - including an unparalleled volume for the study of Hebrew in medieval England, comprising a trilingual Hebrew-Latin-Old French dictionary, glossed Hebrew Psalter, & Hebrew grammar.
We’ve acquired a remarkable group of rare medieval manuscripts that reveal new insights into life in Britain & Ireland during the Middle Ages – from religious dialogue to daily urban life.

@ThomasplumeS began to replace scarce 17thC books that were listed in early inventories but found to be 'missing' in the early 20thC. We have supported the library in this quest on many occasions over the years & were delighted to give a grant towards these latest acquisitions.

Delighted that we could help @Kings_College save the export-stopped Alan Turing 'Delilah' archive for the nation. The support from @xtxmarkets was quite incredible and ensured that this hugely significant archive is now at King's and is accessible to all in perpetuity.
FNL members had a fantastic visit to @SenateHouseLib yesterday! So rewarding for members, whose subs allow us to give more acquisition grants, to see some of the rare books and manuscripts they helped to save, including 16thC cookery books & an 18thC conjurer's flip book!

In a reception @SalisburyCath .bsky.social this week, the 13thC Sarum Master Bible was welcomed home to the city in which it was created nearly 800ya. An exquisite and early example of a 'portable Bible'; 17cm tall, its parchment pages are as almost as fine as tissue paper.
@tuscsup@SalisburyCath Thank you! And it was a terrific evening, wasn't it? Made all the more special by a wonderful choral evensong prior to the reception.

On #DarwinDay, we'd like to celebrate Erasmus Darwin, Charles' grandfather. For a while he was the doctor for Calke Abbey and we have prescriptions he wrote for the family and for his patients from the surrounding area. This example was for Sir Henry Harpur on 19 March 1786.
If you have ever wondered about how conservation works today, join us in on Friday 28th February when the Collection Care team will be in our beautiful Reading Room showcasing some of their latest projects.
