Head of Evangelical Alliance NI David Smyth considers how Christians can be ambassadors of reconciliation during times of unrest.

“By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” —1 Corinthians 15:10
Coalition for Marriage stands with men like Jeremy Bevan, and with everyone - of every faith and none - who still holds that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and that a child is owed a mother and a father.

Why do so many people want to convince us to start trusting in our works/obedience for heaven?
To bring us into a yoke of slavery.
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)
I have been grieving for over 2 months now 😔😞
I’m only able to pull through everyday so far because I have come to know Jesus Christ grieves with me. He is not distant but ever present. John 11:35 , Hebrews 4 : 15 - 16.
My only hope and salvation. One day as He promised. He will wipe away all tears. Rev 21:4 , Isaiah 25:8
When I was Muslim, I used to ask Christians:
“If Jesus was really God, why did He eat, sleep, and bleed like us?”
And honestly, I used to ask it with pride like it was some unbeatable argument.
But later I realized something:
That question was not exposing Christianity.
It was exposing my misunderstanding of what kind of God Jesus claimed to be.
Because the real question is not:
“Why would God become weak?”
The real question is:
“What kind of God would willingly step into human suffering at all?”
Islam taught me about a God who was distant and untouchable.
But Christianity introduced me to a God who stepped into hunger, exhaustion, grief, pain, betrayal, blood, and suffering with us.
And suddenly His humanity stopped feeling like weakness to me.
It became proof of love.
If Jesus ate, it means He came close enough to experience hunger beside us.
If He slept, it means He embraced the exhaustion we carry.
If He bled, it means He did not stand above suffering watching us from a distance.
He entered it Himself.
Philippians 2 says Christ emptied Himself and took on flesh.
Not because He stopped being God, but because He wanted humanity to finally see what God is actually like.
And it turns out God is willing to suffer for the people He loves.
That changed everything for me.
Because every other religion demanded sacrifice from humanity.
Jesus became the sacrifice Himself.
And no prophet in history ever claimed that.
So far, I have not witness any other presidential aspirants clearly state their clear and achievable manifesto for Nigeria 🇳🇬.
@PeterObi has well communicated the knowledge and his background proves that, He possesses the skills to lead Nigeria 🇳🇬.
For once, can it be 🆗 ✌️ ?
ACCEPTANCE SPEECH BY MR. PETER OBI FOLLOWING HIS NOMINATION AS THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OF THE NIGERIAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS(NDC) – MAY 30, 2026
Protocols,
Esteemed citizens of Nigeria,
It is with deep humility that I accept the role of presidential candidate for our party.
I express my profound gratitude to the leaders of our party. His Excellency Seriake Dickson, the National Chairman, National Secretary and the National Working Committee, NWC members and members of our relentless supporters, and the Nigerian populace who have steadfastly kept the spirit of hope alive. I commend those who have made the journey from every region of our nation to convene here in Abuja.
I wish to assert unequivocally: a New Nigeria is Possible. This conviction has united us; it must serve as our compass on the challenging road ahead and sustain us through all trials we may face. This pivotal moment transcends the individual ambitions of Peter Obi; it concerns the essence of our nation and the future of our children. It is about rekindling hope for millions who have faced adversity yet remain committed to Nigeria.
Today, our nation finds itself at a crucial juncture, enveloped in uncertainty. Families are anxious about their safety; parents are concerned for their children's futures; and talented youth increasingly question their prospects in their homeland.
Businesses are struggling, communities are suffering, and an alarming number of citizens have lost faith in the very concept of governance. Yet, I stand before you filled with optimism and strong faith in the resilience of our people, for I firmly believe that a New Nigeria is possible.
UNITY
To realise this New Nigeria, we must first mend the foundational elements essential for the success of any nation.
Nigeria cannot advance while fragmented by ethnic, religious, regional, or narrow political divides. We may communicate in different languages and practise diverse faiths, but we share a singular destiny under one flag. Our diversity should not be a source of division; rather, it is among our greatest strengths.
We should build bridges where others erect barriers, replace mistrust with confidence, division with understanding, and resentment with a collective purpose. A united Nigeria is indispensable. As Will Durant wisely pointed out, "A great civilisation is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within." We must never self-destruct. We must heal, unify, and progress together.
INSECURITY
In terms of security, the situation in Nigeria has considerably worsened. The global terrorism impact assessments ranked Nigeria as the 8th most affected nation in 2022, 6th in 2024, and 4th in 2026.
Yet, for many years, Nigeria garnered global recognition as a reliable contributor to peacekeeping, regional stabilisation, and conflict resolution. Our troops have not only displayed bravery but have also shown professionalism, discipline, resilience, and empathy in the most challenging operational contexts. Our officers and personnel have successfully commanded multiple international forthe ces, safeguarded vulnerable civilian populations, monitored ceasefires, reinstated constitutional order, and contributed to rebuilding efforts.
Nigeria became one of the leading contributors of troops from Africa to UN peacekeeping missions and earned widespread admiration for operational effectiveness and leadership in various countries, including Rwanda, Sudan, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Mali, Western Sahara, Congo, Lebanon, Cambodia, Haiti, and Kuwait. At one pointin a Nigeria, Lt. General Isaac Obiakor (rtd) even led global peacekeeping initiatives.
We must address insecurity with resolve and urgency, for no nation can thrive while its citizens live in trepidation. The primary responsibility of the government is to ensure the safeguarding of lives and property.
It’s very sad 😔 what’s happening in 🇳🇬.
It is the result of sin.
The audacity of evil 👿 is nothing new under the sun.
Reading about Lamech here boasting having killed someone is scary and quite evident in what is happening now in Nigeria 🇳🇬.
We pray 🙏🏼 for the families of those who’ve lost loved ones to these wicked acts of killing and kidnappings. Lord comfort them.
We pray that God will raise up a standard against these enemies coming like a flood Deut. 28 vs 7 for HIS name sake.
We pray against national and foreign influences perpetuating evil in 🇳🇬 and benefiting from the decay.
We pray against bad government, sorcery and false Christianity in Nigeria 🇳🇬.
We pray for Christian communities facing persecution due to their faith.
We pray for renewed trust and hope in our Lord Jesus Christ among believers that we fix our eyes on Him only and not loose heart❤️ 🙏🏼
Amen
😂 I disagree with the fork and knife part 😅.
We use our “hands” or 🥄 “spoons”.
We can use fork and knife for western cultural courtesy.
Oh yes! Our voices and tone are a lot louder 😂
It is not aggressive or rude, it simply means, most are a lot happy 😃
It doesn’t matter how high sounding you are about the things of Christ Jesus. If you don’t obey his words, you are one of the false ones.
“By their fruits, you shall know them…”
Something I read in Ephesians that has stayed with me this week is Paul’s statement that, prior to our union with Christ, we lived under the influence of the prince of the power of the air. I can’t stop thinking about how every rejection of Christ is never truly neutral. It is not merely a human choice untouched by anything beyond ourselves, but one shaped by an external spiritual influence working to resist God’s truth. And when you think of the scale of rejection and opposition ongoing in the world today, through false doctrines and false religions, we need God more than ever before not just in our sanctification as we deal with the roughness of the narrow path but also in re-emphasizing the truth of the gospel as we contend for souls in our own generation.
Wes Huff: "I know people who I believe to be saved within the Roman Catholic Church.
However, I believe them to be saved in spite of the teaching of Rome, not because of it."
I appreciate your video @WesleyLHuff .
Tribulation produces perseverance, which develops experience, which ultimately cultivates hope—and this hope will not disappoint you because God’s love has been poured into your heart through the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:3–5).
If I’m honest I’m not feeling overly “hopeful” today. But I thought I’d share a few thoughts from my reading of Romans 5 this morning.
Paul here illustrates hope’s practical power: it emerges through hardship rather than despite it. Hope realigns your perspective so that temporary difficulties become manageable; problems ultimately pass away. When you’re facing difficulty, this reorientation prevents despair from becoming permanent.
Practically, hope motivates righteous action when your flesh grows weary; Paul urged believers not to lose heart in doing good, and hope should fix your eyes on Jesus so you walk in purity as he did. Rather than waiting passively, you actively pursue integrity because you’re anchored to something greater than present circumstances.
Hope then provides something superior to desire, when the world’s temptations appear attractive, hope redirects your longing toward God’s presence, where alone you’ll find the fullness of joy you truly crave.
And this is me speaking to myself — Wes, to put this hope into practice: cultivate Christ-like characteristics and show diligence in service. Hope isn’t passive sentiment but an active anchor that steadies you through life’s storms when you deliberately cling to it.
I forgot to mention, there are no feminist in Christ or Christian feminists. It doesn’t exist with the gospel of Christ Jesus. There is neither Jews nor Greeks as Paul in the Bible preached.
We all who have received the true gospel are brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
Quite an impressive view backed with scriptural explanation.
Christian women are the most protected by scriptures I believe, any male abusing scriptures in order to mistreat any woman is of his father the devil and has not yet accepted the true gospel of Jesus Christ vice versa.
There is also a conversation we need to have with Christian men.
Because some of you speak about women with an underhanded disdain that is deeply un-Christlike, then hide behind “biblical order” to justify it.
You cannot simply look at every Christian woman who resonates with feminism and dismiss her as rebellious. History has shown women have had reasons to fight. The Church is not entirely innocent in the abuse and silencing of women. We have sometimes weaponized Scripture instead of rightly dividing it.
Some women did not become angry because they hate God. They became angry because people used God against them.
There are women who have been talked down to, ignored, diminished, spiritually manipulated, and emotionally controlled in church spaces while men quoted “submission” at them like a threat.
And when women begin to push back against that, you cannot automatically label them rebellious without enough humility to ask:
“What exactly are they reacting to?”
Because even in Scripture, God did not condemn women who challenged systems.
The daughters of Zelophehad fought.
They contended.
They challenged a structure that disadvantaged them.
And God said:
“The daughters of Zelophehad speak right.” (Numbers 27:7)
Not rebellious.
Not dishonorable.
Not with the spirit of Jezebel…
Right.
Some of you need to realize that being male does not automatically make your interpretation superior.
Statements like:
“Woman was created later, therefore she is lesser,”
“Eve was deceived, therefore women are inferior,”
“Men are naturally superior because Adam came first,”
do not make you sound spiritually mature. They make you sound biblically unintelligent.
Genesis 1 says:
“Male and female created he them.”
God did not create woman as an afterthought. He had both genders in mind from the beginning.
And Genesis 2 is not about superiority.
It is about order.
Order does not mean value.
Christ and the Church have order.
The Father and the Son have order.
Order is not inferiority.
In fact, biblical leadership is not domination.
Christ never used His position to belittle the Church, He died for her.
So how did some Christian men become more arrogant than Christ?
You brandish submission like a weapon.
You speak about masculinity like it is superiority.
You talk about women as though leadership means lordship.
News flash, you are not a biblical male. You are carnally minded and we all know what that means.
To lead in our Kingdom is to serve. Where is your service?!
And if creation order is your argument for superiority, then goats should be greater than men because animals were created before Adam.
The logic collapses immediately.
The truth is many women are angry because they encountered distortion disguised as doctrine.
Male ego preached as theology.
Misogyny defended with proof texts.
And instead of constantly rushing to call women rebellious, maybe Christian men need enough self-awareness to ask:
“Have we represented Christ properly?”
Because many women are not rejecting Christ.
They are reacting to men who looked nothing like Him.
Love and Light… with a sprinkle of Holy Ghost Fire.
Wow 😂 I very much know that statistically, most Nigerians are die hard Arsenal fans.
22 years 🥹 . Congratulations 🥂
The level of loyalty is quite impressive ❤️
