it's inaccessibly expensive at $75 a bottle (although a month of mawkish's meds costs more than that...) and side effects of long term use aren't yet fully understood, but it's worth saying that this isn't something you can cut corners with, it has to come from a vet.

i thought i'd specify that the appetite stimulant was a ghrelin agonist because for a long time appetite stimulants have simply been putting tasty things onto food to get a dog to eat. sometimes this doesn't work. it's not a nice meal you can cook at home yourself.

she also had the ulcerous tumor (and the other tumors, i think) on her belly removed in the same procedure. she's still incredibly thin, but i'm happy to see her so much hungrier and looking less like she's half dead.

by the way in case anyone is wondering about the chihuahua she's doing good. didn't know if she was going to really pull through. she wouldn't eat or get up. we ended up feeding her through a syringe, which she hated, until she had enough energy to eat by herself.

she's eating dog food regularly again thanks to the appetite stimulant. the reproductive tract inside of her was so distended that once it was removed her waist was half as thick as it used to be - skinny enough for me to wrap my finger and thumb around.
