Ok, let me clear a few things up.
I know I post a lot about #Y2K & $MLG as a deadly duo, but it’s not because one is a derivative or pure beta of the other.
Yes, $MLG is sending hard first – that’s because they got incredible attention from Faze, which brought them into the spotlight.
That attention has also started shining on culture coin gems as a whole because culture clicks for people. And naturally, Y2K is an obvious culture coin gem, which is why it’s sending hard as well.
A rising tide lifts all ships.
But let me be clear – Y2K is in its own lane entirely.
They tokenize different cultures:
Gaming & Nostalgia.
The reason I bull post both is simple: these are two cultures I love.
$MLG’s focus is on modern and older gaming – that’s their lane.
#Y2K’s focus is purely on nostalgic culture, with an emphasis on the Y2K era, one of the most popular and influential eras in culture right now.
Nostalgia is incredibly powerful and can be represented in endless ways, which is what makes Y2K so special.
What makes these two work so well together is their shared ability to evoke emotion through culture. That’s why I love both.
Culture coins are PvE, and that’s what makes them my favorite. There’s no competition – only mutual growth.
We’re not playing a 0-sum game.
I’ve loved both communities from the start and knew they were gems the moment I saw them.
That’s why I aped hard and grouped them under the (cult)ure coin category – they’re two distinct representations of tokenized culture, each unique and powerful in their own way.
We support them, they support us – and together, both are destined for greatness.
