( Holding back a chuckle, Ema briefly bites down on her bottom lip )
A telephone, yes.
( She gently corrects him. Considering the countless of odd people she met with her work, someone who didn't know what a phone was wasn't too weird )
This one is made so you can take it
;
( ooohhhh. the pieces all snap together. he tries his best to nod and look like he knows exactly what those words mean. )
oh, yeah, of course. a tellyphone. i have one of those at home.
( Eyebrow raising just a touch, Ema glances down at the phone in her hand before looking back up at him. Then, she holds it up a bit )
My phone? It's a Samsung Galaxy S23, if that's what you're after.
( She seems a bit confused, but also a touch amused )
( ron doesn't answer for a moment, struggling for words. the weasleys have a wall-mounted, corded phone at home, but the thing she's holding is different enough that he doesn't immediately associate the two. )
that, uh— /that/.
( he gives up, pointing at her mobile. )
@TWlSTEDFEATHERS Don't worry, I didn't think it was aggressive! I know you, after all.
I've been well, thank you! Busy, but well— Aren't we all? How about you?
@guiltylovings Oh, you're sooo gallant. I'm practically swooning over here.
Only one of them, hm?
( She closes the distance between them, lazily resting her forearms on his shoulders and intertwining her fingers behind his neck )
What are your other priorities?
She jolts with a gasp, one hand reaching for the pocket of her labcoat until the voice registers—
"Gio!" Ema squeals happily, turning around to face him with a smile and hug.
"Hm—?" She automatically responds to her name, glancing up. When Ema realizes it's Phoenix, though, she blinks with surprise. "Oh, Mr Wright! Hi!"
Her phone is put away rather swiftly, stuffed into the pocket of her lab coat.
@defiantroyalty Oh wow— Guess I missed out on quite a bit while on maternity leave, huh?
I've been well! Or we've been well, rather. It still feels surreal, somehow.
