FPD honored Black History Month in February through meaningful learning experiences embedded in our curriculum. Second graders read “Follow the Drinking Gourd” and learned how constellations are used for navigation. They even built constellations in Science Lab! #VikingNation

This week students created and launched planes they made in FPD’s Middle School STEAM Flight and Space class. The students made a fuselage with wings out of paper, then blew through a straw to create thrust. The goal was to land their planes on the runway. #ROOTED #VikingNation

FPD’s Lower School music program provides a well-rounded experience for our students. They begin in 3K and 4K, where they sing songs and learn the basics of music like how to keep a beat. From there, they can grow with each grade level. #VikingNation #ROOTED

FPD 2nd graders have been studying light and the eye. Students explored their shadows by tracing their partner’s shadow in the morning, and then again in the afternoon. In science lab they labeled and discussed parts of the eye and made edible models. #ROOTED #VikingNation

FPD’s High School Robotics Team, Smida Syndicate, won first place in the “Think Award,” which qualifies them to compete at the GA FTC State Championship in February. This award is based on the engineering portfolio. #VikingNation #ROOTED

FPD's 1st graders shared some Christmas joy with the residents of Oaks-Peake today. They sang Christmas carols and handed out Christmas cards they made. #VikingNation #ROOTED

Today, 3K students celebrated their Thanksgiving Feast. They've been learning all about the first Thanksgiving and dressed up as pilgrims and Indians. They shared all they had learned with family who came to enjoy a delicious lunch. #VikingNation #ROOTED

Throughout this school year, FPD 5th graders have put money in a piggy bank from Mexico. They busted it open today, and all the money they collected will be given to the playground fundraiser for Casa Hogar. The students raised a total of $207.15!
