🚨 GW3 Review 🚨
I know I am a bit late, but here is my GW3 review, highlighting team performances as well as options to look at.
IPS vs LIV:
Not sure what to make of this game. I expected Liverpool to get more out of this game, they did have a few chances in the first half and a penalty shout, but ended the game only scoring 2.
Key takeaways:
Isak looks like he is picking up form again. His movement and eye for goal is getting sharper. My only concern is the rotation risk. The lack of pure depth in the 9 position and with UCL on the horizon would mean that Isak is more likely to be subbed off early to ensure his fitness for midweek games. The gamble now is, does he stay on if Liverpool are not in a winning position? Etikite is only back in January, that’s half the season of this possible rotation to deal with. He took 2 shots with both on target, and that was it for his contribution. So the question is who else can cover from a Liverpool perspective?
Gakpo - Created 3 chances, got 2 assists and only took 1 shot. Liverpool fans, is he nailed with Barcola being availble?
Szobo - I don’t know what to make of Szobo to be honest. He is on set pieces, he did score 1 penalty, but other than that he hasn’t lit up the stage as much as we would have wanted. His xA was a measly 0.08 in this game with his xG at 0.16.
Wirtz - was none the better, xA of 0.05 and xG of 0.18.
If you have any Liverpool players, I suggest holding - Fulham look leaky and Liverpool are at home (albeit after a midweek game). This should probably give more context overall on where players stand.
Unsurprisingly, Enciso topped the charts for xG in this fixture. 0.24 having taken the most shots, 6, (almost double that of Liverpool’s highest shot taker) but, 5 of those came from outside the box. He almost took 50% of the shots from Ipswich. He is starting to take on the talisman responsibility and returns could be on the way.
@AJStahlut I’ve had him since gw1, so you can understand my frustration with him.
But you’re right too - that roulette is something I’m not too keen on either.
Maybe Chelsea triple up 🙈
Fully agree Tom, he’s got the pedigree to deliver.
It’s all down to whether you can wait with the blanks and be early on a bandwagon when he does start returning, or sell now, reap some returns and get him back in when they start to click.
I’m leaning to the latter, with maybe Foden/Doku coming in
@AJStahlut Sorry mate. The frustration is real with him. Although, it’s not entirely his fault.
He would have had back to back double digit hauls if he had better teammates.
I’m still most likely selling. Maybe to Foden/Doku
WEATHER UPDATE: According to TalkSport who think Coventry vs Fulham and Sunderland vs Leeds could be at risk...
Saturday’s games of Aston Villa vs Manchester City, Arsenal vs Everton and Chelsea vs Tottenham all appear to have escaped the worst of the weather.
Coventry vs Fulham at 3pm could be the most at risk on Saturday with heavy downpours and wing gusts of 44MPH expected around kick-off.
The inclement weather will continue into Sunday and there are five Premier League games in the schedule. Crystal Palace vs Newcastle would appear to be fine, but the other four games are taking place in the north of the country and could all be in trouble.
Hull vs Brentford, Liverpool vs Brighton, Manchester United vs Bournemouth and Sunderland vs Leeds will all take place under the yellow weather warning should they not be postponed.
Sunderland looks set to face the volatile conditions with winds of 63MPH being forecasted in Tyneside. While rain shouldn’t be an issue on Sunday, wind gusts are set to be at least 50MPH in Hull, Liverpool and Manchester too.

Using 1 FT to take out DCL for Evanlinson.
Sorry United, you’re my team, but Bournemouth is scoring 💔 and we’ve looked weak down the middle.
Gotta feeling about JP9 this week. Going for him as 🧢.
Starting Manzambi, because even if he plays 30 minutes, it’s gonna be better than King’s 90min 😭
OR: 4.5m 🌍
Good luck everyone.
