Afrikaanse plantname het diep wortels met raakpunte met Nederlands, maar ook met voorkoloniale Khoi-afrikaans. Die trekbewegings van Khoi- en Bastergroepe het tot die vertaling van plantname bygedra en is deel van ons erfenis. Hierdie is 'n grassoort, die Bruin hoenderspoor.
