It makes a lot of sense to use the Free Hit in GW34, because the teams who get a double in GW33 (who you’d obviously want to own) blank immediately after in GW34

Who are the best players to buy for GW26? After consecutive double gameweeks we're back to a single but loads to think about with BGW29 not too far away, plus million of assistant managers active so for those of you with yours active I've added a brand new segment for you at the end looking at manager projections.

Goalkeepers first then. With Arsenal home to West Ham Raya leads the keeper projections this week on 4.3 points, likewise top of all keepers for the next 5. The fixtures are a bit mixed after this week though, Forest away, Man Utd away, Chelsea home in GW29. If you need a keeper and have the money he's still the best bet though. White back on the Arsenal bench for the first time in months last match, they're looking great at that end of the pitch, it's the other end where there's mounting problems.

Second on the table and 1m cheaper is Kepa, Bournemouth are home to Wolves and over the next 5 Kepa is second after Raya. He's the next best pick if you're in need of a keeper. 6 clean sheets this season, a bit unlucky not to have more. Arsenal, Liverpool, Fulham, Forest, Villa and Newcastle are the 6 teams with a better expected goals conceded this season. They've only conceded 29 goals though, only Liverpool and Arsenal have conceded fewer. Many of you have Pickford from DGW24 and he's a straight forward hold, not worth a transfer out. Alisson drops off the table given they're facing Man City next, given they also blank in GW29 if he's your only keeper and if you're not free hitting in GW29 then you could look at switching Raya or Kepa in.

Let's move on to defenders.

It's looking like a really unpredictable week for clean sheets looking at this list. Gabriel, Saliba, kerkez, Huisen, Van Hecke, Robinson, Porro, Zabarnyi.

Gabriel and Saliba are the top two. No Lewis-Skelly of course as he's a midfielder in FPL, plus Calafiori could come in, and at right back as we said White is back so it's one to keep an eye on. You keep Timber if you have him, he should keep playing and in fairness has been playing very well, plus White's been out for ages. He's in don't buy don't sell territory.

The Bournemouth defence is a good place to look if your team needs a defender, particularly if not free hitting in GW29. Wolves home, then Brighton, Spurs, Brentford, Ipswich. Who's the best one then? Not much in it, Kerkez is on 16.1 points for the next 5, Huijsen for 0.5m cheaper just 0.9 projected points behind him.

Huijseen only started getting starts in GW14 after Senesi's injury, and he's been outstanding. He's better for xGI than Kerkez and Zabarnyi with 2.3, Kerkez 2.2, Zabarnyi 1.2. He's amazing aerially and has a knack of getting on the end of crosses, 11 shots to Kerkez's. Though Kerkez has whipped in 73 crosses hence a superior xA. If money's no object for you I'd still back kerkez but both are great.

The only thing I'm wondering about if Senesi's return. Premier Injuries has a potential return date of 15th March, the FPL site has 1st April. That's GW29 or GW30. There's a good chance he'd be eased in anyway if back by then, perhaps enough justification to go Kerkez if you've got the money though, who is completely nailed.

Although Van Hecke is on the table since he faces Southampton I'd avoid, he'd got Man City in GW29 as well. Robinson could be handy, Palace home, then Wolves, Brighton and Spurs. Doesn't blank in 29 either. Tete is another one back around 1st April potentially, so Castagne should be safe for the blank.

Not a week to buy him but Gvardiol is top of my defedner wishlist, 5 goals this season with Brighton home in GW29, Leicester home in GW30. Some potentially difficult decisions to come, do we sell Trent, Salah, Isak when they're such great picks plus money tied up in then to gain a player in GW29 with a good fixture? As mad as it might sound I can see myself losing Trent and Salah in GW29, they're guaranteed 0 points, who knows what Gvardiol and Haaland do for example with a guaranteed home fixture to Brighton. We've had 25 gameweeks to build team value, or 28 by that point, points over team value. Getting a balance right is fair though, selling Isak and Salah could be overkill.

Onto the midfielders. After having captaincy basically decided for us the last couple gameweeks with Salah doubling next week it's a real toss up, I can't remember ever seeing the list so tight. Salah away at City, Arsenal home to West Ham, Odegaard is surprisingly high here actually, Son has Ipswich, though he's not in many teams, Palmer has Villa away, Mbeumo has Leicester away. The Bournemouth mids have Wolves home too. Then you've got the forwards, Haaland vs Liverpool, Isak vs Forest. We'll look at forwards in a minute.

Can't remember the last time captaincy was this wide open. Leave a comment below with your early thoughts, stick with the ever reliable Salah or twist for the upside?

Trossard represents a really nice option for 6.9m and only 3.3% owned. We know he's nailed with all the injuries, started up front last match before being pushed to the left wing due to Sterling's ineffectiveness. He's on 5.8 points and on basically the same projections for the next 5 as Odegaard so save the 1.3m if you want an Arsenal mid for West Ham home.

What about Merino though? Completely changed the game coming off the bench and scoring a brace to win the game. He said after the game he's not sure if he'll player as striker again, so perhaps a little risky and the sensible thing to do is buy Trossard if you want an Arsenal mid. Honorable mention to Nwaneri who is only 4.5m and the 17 year old came away with 1 assist. He took 4 shots, 2 on target, 1 big chance created, 2 key passes.

If you're tight for cash he's a solid option. Martinelli could be back GW28 or 29 and might prefer to play him on the right wing than overplay the youngster. Though in current form maybe he'll continue playing him and Martinelli and Trossard compete, hard to say.

Amad's out for likely the entire season with an injury, if you've got him the Bournemouth mids are perfect replacements similarly priced. Amad aside the Bournemouth mids are great pick ups right now. Which one?

For GW26 Dango is slightly ahead of the others on 5.4 points, Semenyo 5.1, Kluivert 5.0. We were saying last week it wouldn't be surprising if they all did well, last gameweek they all returned. Pick one and hope for the best. Kluivert is on pens but the worst for expected minutes, he came off early for Tavernier last match. Semenyo best for minutes, Dango generally gets around 90 as well. It's hard to look past Dango for 5.1m though, the lowest owned and playing out of position striker.

What do you do if you've got Bruno?

Manchester United have lost eight of their last 12 Premier League games (W3 D1); since the date of the first game in this spell (Dec 4th v Arsenal), the only sides to lose more matches in the competition are the current bottom two, Leicester (9) and Southampton (10). The last time they lost of 12 of their first 25 was 1973 and they were relegated.

A bear bones bench against Spurs as they went to lose 1 - 0, was Lindelof and youngsters. Mainoo, Ugarte and Collyer missed out which saw Bruno in that unfavourable deeper CM role rather than playing as a 10. The thing is, he's got Everton, Ipswich and Leicester in his next 4. Everton perhaps not such a great fixture right now, and he doesn't blank in GW29. So it really depends if you've got the free transfers to sell him and still have a good team in 29, or of course if you plan to free hit then you can get rid if you please. Mbeumo or Bournemouth mids are the only place I'd be looking right now.

It's worth talking about Marmoush though, a 32 minute hat trick. He's got Liverpool next so there's no rush to buy, let's see if he continues starting every game between now and GW29, then consider buying before Brighton and Leicester if he does. We've not seen KDB plus Marmoush yet, that's the only fear. 3 starts in a row for Marmoush, none for KDB.

Palmer's been a disappointment recently, just 1 assist in his last 4. However let's not forget he's got Southampton home in GW27, Leicester home GW28, and he's still the second top scoring player in the game after Salah. So we need to temper expectations, you can definitely make the case for selling in GW29 when they've got Arsenal but not before in my eyes.

Okay let's move on to forwards then a quick look at managers.

Isak tops the forwards table with 5.9 projected points, home to Forest and while they've been unbelievable overall this season they have lost 2 in their last 3, conceding 5 to Bournemouth notable away in GW23. So he's absolutely an option for captaincy next gameweek. Haaland is on 5.3, Watkins 5.1, Welbeck 4.8, Wissa 4.7.

So if you bought Watkins for DGW25 he's fine to hold unless there's a nice combination of moves you can make like Wissa in, to free up money for something else. Two goals ruled out by Wissa last gameweek, brutally unlucky for owners and fine margins.

Wood continues to defy all odds, having the season of his life with 18 goals now from 10 xG, his finishing is better than anyone in the league this season. Now last gameweek a hot topic was selling Isak for Watkins, given the better fixtures for Watkins including the double, Isak with bad fixtures and better work. It worked out. This week it's the same story, Newcastle away, Arsenal home, Man City home is Wood's next 3 games.

If you've got him are you keeping or selling? We might not see him on the forwards table until GW29 now when in fairness they do have Ipswich which is another reason to consider keeping. It does of course depend if you've got the transfers to be swapping players out that don't blank in GW29, right now for millions of us transfers like that are a luxury, and every single transfer must be focused on the blank.

Beto has really surprised us all, scoring in 3 consecutive matches, 4 goals in total. If you need a super cheap forward to fund something else he's right there, perhaps if you're a Joao Pedro owned who seems to have lost his spot in the starting 11. You'd be surprised if Hurzeler put him back in when they've just beaten Chelsea twice. Wissa is better than beto if you can afford Joao Pedro to Wissa though. Jackson also a sell, out until around GW30. Gakpo reportedly will miss the Villa game as well, that's one to keep an eye on if you've got him, they have City next anyway so Gakpo to Wissa looks really nice when comparing their fixtures.

Okay a brand new segment for the first time in this series. Given millions have the assistant manager active, some from GW24, some from GW25 let's have a look at the options.

For GW26 van Nistlerooy is top with 8.4 projected points, they're home to Brentford so there's table bonus if they can get a draw or a win. As a reminder if a team if 5 or more places above in the league table, you'll get 10 extra points if your manager wins, 5 extra if they draw. So 16 points for a win, 8 for a draw in total.

Leicester have been given a 29% chance of winning which is the highest of the table bonus teams, though Palace and Ipswich are only a couple percent less likely.

The table bonus teams are Leicester vs Brentford. West Ham against Arsenal, Wolves against Bournemouth, Palace vs Fulham, Ipswich vs Spurs, Southampton vs Brighton.

Palace vs Fulham feels a bit more solid to me, less gap in quality between the two sides though Palace are away. Not necessarily a bad thing given how bad Palace have been home vs away.

Spurs have got players returning from injury now and strengthened in January so perhaps not as obvious as it would've been say a month ago. Arteta is on 8.2 points and the safer bet, though nothing is a given especially with all the injuries in attack. You get a point per goal they score and you'd be surprised if West Ham get batterd. Hurzeler on the other hand could be likelier to provide goal bonus facing Southampton, he's on 7 projected poinjts and joint fourth with Glasner.
