"Anyone who is laying down money today to buy a home in the Greater Toronto Area has to seriously go for a psychiatric assessment" ~ @EconguyRosie in the breakfast note this morning.
From time to time, I like to put to paper the events in my life that have shaped the way I act and think. With Wining, not Whining, I tip my bottle to a dear mentor and legendary winemaker who taught me how to confront and conquer fear. Enjoy.

The commentary in the FOMC minutes on strength in consumer spending and housing goes to show the Fed is way behind on what's happened in the latest data flow. Another 'Powell Pivot' is coming our way. Taper ain't happening any time soon and these shifted dots are pure nonsense.
The annual FP500 is out, ranking Canada's public, private and Crown corporations for the 57th time, and the 11th, I believe, that I've worked on. Great cover by our art director, one that nods back to some of our older issues.
@jamespmcleod Baseball pitchers are told to throw at people's heads, football players have been paid to injure opposing players, plenty of basketball fights occur -- granted it just generally involves slapping -- and the hard or message foul is encouraged. Players usually stick around.
The FP500 issue last year was cancelled due to COVID-19, but we persevered to find a way to present at least some of it online. It took some doing, but we made it. Consider it a slice of pre-pandemic corporate Canada. https://t.co/iRSqLe6npq
@JohnnyPR@journeydan Ontario says it will ticket anyone doing non-essential activity outside, but isn't going to buy non-essential items at non-essential retailers or working at said retailers, which are allowed to remain open, inherently non-essential activity? I don't think they thought this out.
I love sports business stories, and we don't do them often enough. Here's a great take by @oconnorwrites on reopening the #NHL for regular business in the pandemic age, one that stars Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk. https://t.co/MSPN1PwEpG #sportsbusiness
