We’ve been doing some superstar learning about the book ‘Whatever Next!’ Look at our amazing writing from both continuous provision and our group work.
We explored forest school earlier this week. There was plenty of muddy puddles, dens to build and we even had a go on the tyre slide. We had so much fun!
It’s been incredibly cold this week and we decided to explore the ice that had collected in our tuff trays. The children used their knowledge of triangles to explain what shapes they could see!
This week we introduced our outside water play, where the children transported water down the drain pipes into different sized tubs. They discussed which would be the best jug to use and accurately poured the water too!
In our outside provision, we have been using chalk to practice writing our numbers! We spoke about which numbers should go where, practicing our ordering.
This week in forest school we were exploring the grounds for mini beasts. To make it even better we saw lots of muddy puddles and splashed lots, making lots of mess. The children used magnifying glasses to spot even the smallest of bugs, showing their peers what they had found.
We have been continuing our reading of ‘the owl babies’ in reception and this week we have had to sort the picture cards into the correct order to follow the story correctly. The children were able to explain why each photo went in each specific spot and working well in groups!
In reception this week we have been looking at sorting items into groups. The children worked so hard at grouping by colour, size and different bugs. They were working together and asking lots of questions!
We had a wonderful time outside in the sunshine on Wednesday creating ‘Forest Guardians’ using clay. We added natural resources and gave them magical powers!
Look what we found today in our outdoor area! We have some VERY hungry Sawfly larvae… initially we thought that they were caterpillars which would turn into butterflies but they are not 🐛
Yesterday Reception received a very important letter from Little Red Riding Hood. Over the next 5 days we are going to make some WANTED posters to find this scary wolf! We will keep you all posted…
