Russia's withdrawal from the #BlackSeaGrain Initiative is very regrettable, as it will put additional pressure on the sector, affecting market/price stability and global #foodsecurity.

In few hours, #EUCELAC (EU & Latin America/Caribbean) Summit will start in Brussels. The #EUMercosur agreement will of course be a topic of discussion.

For @ChLambert_FNSEA & @RamonArmengol5, the #EUMercosur trade deal is an outdated agreement that lands far from #Farm2Fork ambitions !

With the further implementation of the #GreenDeal, the gap in standards applied to the EU and Mercosur farmers will increase. This widening is untenable for 🇪🇺 producers, and the Mercosur agreement will only exacerbate this problem as this agreement was designed years before the launch of the Farm to Fork strategy or the war in Ukraine.

It was unacceptable then and it is even more so today.

🚨 In the space of 2⃣ months, forecasts for harvests which were initially positive have been turned on their head by poor weather conditions across 🇪🇺.

For cereals especially, the situation is extremely worrying with an expected production of 2⃣5⃣6⃣ million tonnes, possibly the worst harvest since 2007 and 1⃣0⃣% below the last 5-year average.

Many farmers will not be able to cover their production costs, this is why @COPACOGECA are launching an urgent call to action to face this difficult situation in 2023 and its consequences for 2024.

There aren't two camps: the pro-restoration of nature and the anti-restoration!

There are just two approaches to a  regulatory proposal made by the @EU_Commission: those who want to push this proposal through to the end, ignoring its feasibility; and those who will have to implement it,  who are wondering how they are going to manage with the current proposal on the ground, and the lack  of funding!

We invite MEPs from ALL political groups who want to join us outside Strasbourg EP to be part of this flash action.

"As an 🇮🇹 winemaker, what knocked me off my chair is the unbearable lightness that the Commission services took towards food production, pointing the finger at a few specific crops. The 🇪🇺executive's analysis recognises that the worst consequences - in terms of production of the proposed targets on PPP reduction - will hit a few crops “that are not essential to ensure European food security” mentioning specifically grapes🍇, hops🫒and tomatoes🍅.

It is absurd that a body that is supposed to ensure the smooth functioning of the single market, consumer protection and the implementation of the law endorse such an approach when it comes to food production and admits that flagship agricultural products will be 'sacrificed' because we can live without them! (...)

🍷Wine is one of the products that make up the 🇪🇺agri-food identity a strong marker that the @EUAgri has until recently always supported, particularly in its promotional campaigns with our trading partners.

For years, @EUAgri posters have been saying "Enjoy it IS from Europe". I only wish that one day we won’t have to say "Enjoy it WAS from Europe".

🇷🇴 At the beginning of this week I responded, with great joy, to the invitation to participate in the third edition of the Farmers' Congress, organized by the Farmers' Force Association in Aula Magna Petre S. Aurelian ➡ University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest (@USAMV_Bucuresti).

🎙 My speech covered the following topics:

✅ The situation of farmers in this period when we are witnessing a series of proposals that will directly affect them, such as: the #SUR regulation (regulation on the sustainable use of pesticides) or the #IED directive (directive on industrial emissions), the regulation on #NatureRestoration.

✅ The imperative of association, of strong partnerships and constant dialogue at national and European level. In this respect, Copa-Cogeca (@COPACOGECA) has recognized the specificities of the agricultural field in Romania, responded to our needs and is ready to defend the interests of our farmers.

✅ Trust and support are needed from the Romanian authorities, as Copa-Cogeca has a highly visible and easily quantifiable positive impact.

🇷🇴 Today, during the LEADER Talks Conference - 2nd edition (#LEADERTalks2) event, organized by LAG Lider Bistrita Nasaud, LAG Napoca Porolissum (@GalNapoca) and National Federation PRO AGRO (@FProagro), we launched the AKIS National Advisory Network (RNC AKIS) in Romania which will be an innovation system, focusing on the organizations involved, the links and interactions between them with the aim of creating a connection between the scientific and the practical side, which will amplify the exchange of knowledge for the benefit of farmers and other specialists in agriculture and rural development.

🤝 I cannot emphasise enough how much AKIS benefits the national and European level. Knowledge and innovation play a key role in supporting Local Action Groups, farmers, rural communities, but also in the development of food and non-food systems, biodiversity, environment and climate. AKIS will bring together researchers, rural networks, national and regional authorities, consumers and the mass-media.

📢 I make a special call to Local Action Groups! Have trust, sign up and become part of the #RNCAKIS! It is a necessity for the present, but especially for the way we want to see the future of rural development in Romania!
