The 1 inch of superelevation is in reference to how banked the curve is, just like freeways!
So for example, we can see that the Oakland depot is officially at mile post 6.57, and that's specifically the eastern face of the depot (EFD).
It's in a 1.02mi straight section of track, which is followed by a 1379 ft long turn to the left at 1 degree 30 seconds w/ 1" superelev

@ChuckMcManis For a few reasons. Even for diesels, they're not push start, but once you start making up a train, you need to let them sit there for an hour to charge the brakes in the cars regardless of what you're doing.
After three hours of running the fire box atomizer on compressed air, we've finally got 25lb in the boiler, so we can cut over to using steam for the atomizer and really boil some water! 🔥🚂🔥
