Strikes happen for many many reasons. Sometimes it’s pay. Sometimes it’s terms of employment. Sometimes it’s because working conditions are unsuitable and potentially dangerous.
If you want schools to stay safe you can’t allow the government to remove anyone’s right to strike.
Hello
Just a reminder that special schools exist and mandating that schools stay open for children with special needs during strikes hamstrings the ability of special needs staff to strike
This impacts everyone. Children deserve well paid and well treated staff.
@Teacherglitter Something that really has surprised me as my partner’s got into funk records is how much modern music had taken from black artists from years before. Labi Siffre- I Got The is an incredible song and is sampled by Eminem, though yours would probably be too young to spot that
@TabitaSurge If we want to look at low expectations I think we look at the people who do ignore diagnosed conditions and whose students learn to just sit silently and get by the day rather than thriving as they could with adaptations.
An American special needs teacher keeps popping up on my insta feed and the things she posts are spot on but the COMMENTS American schools are a world away
“Sometimes when behaviour starts and the rest are out I just leave the room and shut the door ” ma’am that’s illegal
Hesitant to say it but we had a fab first week. Frankly I put a lot of work into getting my team (the FIVE OF US, biggest class team I’ve ever had) on the same page and it’s worked a dream. Never felt quite so organised and put together so early in the year.

I’m still fighting to wfh for PPA mornings. Especially when my commute is 30 minutes on a good day (and it’s not often a good day!) I just get so annoyed thinking about how much time wasted when I could just be working and go in later when it’s not rush hour
This really should be standard practice in primary schools. I see no reason why PPA can’t be done at home or off site if teachers want to. I am much more productive when I WFH.
Like are you actually kidding me with this weather? Nothing but sunshine while we’ve been in class but now rain for two weeks straight? Let me talk to the manager
