16 members of VTV’s Senior Staff attended the 2019 Fall FSPA today. They won 4 awards for their contest submissions, and VTV’s Olivia Byrd was named the District 3 Student Representative. Join us in congratulating this wonderful group for their hard work and for representing VHS!
After sessions ended and brains were full, students shared in each other's successes in the fall digital contest winner announcements, taking their achievements back to their schools.
Red Huber presented photography lessons from his impactful career, but he also shared his passion for student journalism and teaching the next generation of journalists. We walked away moved by his talent and excited to tackle our next projects by creating trust with our subjects
Teaching was something I'd never done before.
So, I gotta say, I was a little nervous as the multimedia classroom started overflowing with budding journalists.
(That's me in the shadow, trying not to look unnerved before class.)
But the kids of @FSPADistrict3 were *awesome* as I explained how to find news stories and make them their own.
They were engaged, curious (as all great journos should be) and asked interesting and creative questions - which made this newbie feel very much at ease.
#ThankYou
Today's district 3 resulted in a new D3 TOY, Joseph Winters from Four Corners Upper School, D3 student rep winner Olivia Byrd from Viera High School and D3 Co-directors, Callie Williams and Courtney Hanks. Congratulations! #fspad3
