Last week, the #STLCards called up red-hot catcher Jimmy Crooks, and he’s far from the only prospect fans want to see.
I asked Chaim Bloom last week about that decision, and how it reflects their greater plan for development ⬇️

Great night at the plate from Burly so far: 2-2 with 3 RBIs off of lefty Mackenzie Gore.
Burly slashed .200/.232/.262 with just 9 RBI against LHP prior to tonight
Getting the math to math for Blaze to fit on the roster isn’t very clean without Gorm being optioned or Fermin DFA’d (which the latter I’d be good with). But even then, the return of Noot/Urias/Church complicates the mix.

Torres
(This would mean optioning Saggese, VS2 and DFAing Fermin).
Either need to option Torres or DFA Nelson to fit him.
I’d be down to rip the bandaid off now (DFA Fermin), give Blaze some run until Urias is back, and then see how guys are playing then and make a decision.
The easier option is to swap him for Torres but I’d like to see him stick for now. Not married to Nelson but he’s been helpful so far so it would feel weird to punt already.
Baseball America’s top 100 update for June sees all three of the #STLCards rise with no new additions:
Rainiel Rodriguez up from 31 to 29
Liam Doyle up from 55 to 40
Joshua Baez up from 57 to 51
