Congrats to Bethany Kear and Sophia Vizoso on earning the 2026 Clara Kibler Davis Scholarship! This annual scholarship is presented to two undergraduate neuroscience students who have excelled in research.
Kear and Vizoso both graduated from @FloridaState this spring and majored in cell and molecular neuroscience (@FSUNeuroscience). Vizoso earned an additional bachelor's degree in public health from @FSUCOSSPP.
Kear's research investigated the link between gut dysfunction and neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue. With the long-term goal of becoming a physician, Kear will spend the next year volunteering at a hospital, furthering her clinical experience and applying to medical schools.
Visoso's research explored the connections among neuroscience, cardiovascular health and chronic disease prevention. Starting in the fall, she will pursue a master of public health degree in epidemiology at @Columbia.
