When discussing costumes, we realized that all of Yuzuru Hanyu's SP world records were achieved in blue costumes. In the spirit of @rockerskating's #gratuitousfashiontweets, we ran a statistical analysis of highest score vs mean blueness and found a 75% correlation.
@waytogorobin13 "Why are all the new hockey fans sharks fans???"
Idk man, maybe it's because the sharks fans & organization have been funny and welcoming while the rest of y'all...well...exhibit A in these comments
@jhwnchas4flip mostly annoys me that they always use a weird cut with about 1 page of the first movement, skip the 2nd movement entirely, and then the rest is excerpts from the 3rd movement
@vanillanakaii spent way too much timing making a spreadsheet of all the possible scoring outcomes. lots of rumors on the who and what, but the initial consensus was ice dance (or pairs? can't remember) guy and marijuana.
@SAMA27749 Very good points already brought up about age and injuries as well as technique (need height to fit the rotations). Want to add that skate boot and blade technology advances over the years, which also contributes to jump advances.
@MaskedHottiee My move for CVS these days is to order online for in-store pickup so that I can just grab it from the counter and not have to wait for them to unlock each individual case. Assuming I can find someone to unlock them in the first place. Ugh
@C0BR4H Basically, the immune system is doing boy who cried wolf and freaking out because it has pollen allergen vibes. Won't show on food allergy testing, but may show up with pollen allergy testing.
@C0BR4H Probably oral allergy syndrome wherein someone with pollen allergy/ies has a reaction in the mouth when eating foods that have similar proteins to the problem pollen(s). Cooking to breakdown the proteins helps, but some are more heat stable, like nuts.
@lynniepot@C0BR4H Throwing up can be an allergic reaction since your body's trying to get the allergen out. Pretty common for anaphylactic reactions to include reflexive vomiting (especially with cashews, 100mg cashew is notoriously bad in challenge testing).
@elenagarabatos@Many_Bees@ilyasleftnipple Very sorry to hear too.
Viruses are hard to treat; the best method is to prevent or minimize with vaccines if possible. Even when caught early enough, shingles is difficult to treat, often not very effective. Generations who all had chickenpox are most vulnerable :(
@KikokuDMint@ilyasleftnipple Solidarity from my MCAS/dysautonomia/physical urticarias having self. Med education has improved, so young docs tend to know more, but it still has a long way to go, especially regarding quality of life impacts
@KikokuDMint@ilyasleftnipple Ah, celiac's? Yes, a less well-known consequence of celiac's disease is increased risk of mucosal infections (e.g., catch via respiratory tract) because of impaired IgA. Can also cause skin and vascular damage. Sorry to hear what you went through; late diagnosis is frustrating
@KikokuDMint@ilyasleftnipple Analogy: think of it like your immune system's playing a video game. Vaccines are like giving instructions on how to win. Usually works, but sometimes the game updates and changes (mutations), and sometimes the player's controls malfunction (immunodeficient). Still easier to beat
@KikokuDMint@ilyasleftnipple Viruses can evade vaccines by mutating (like current ebola strain). The more stable the virus, the better vaccines work. Chickenpox and measles are usually very stable, so vaccines are very effective. Covid and flu mutate a lot, so vaccines are less effective. Still makes milder
@tranche_cheddar Top ACT/SAT/PSAT exam math tip is when in doubt, pick the answer that is most like the others. If 3 of 5 answers are negative, the correct answer is likely negative. If most have sqrt(2), or 1/2, etc., that is most likely in the correct answer. Very effective.
@filmbitten My longstanding theory is more author involvement leads to better adaptations. Best book to movie is The Princess Bride. The author wrote the screenplay; kept the best aspects of the book while changing the worst. Film was like the final, polished version of the tale.
@elenagarabatos@ilyasleftnipple Thank you for helping me practice!
(I'm a medical student. I have had bad doctor experiences with my own chronic illnesses, so I'm committed to not becoming one of them. Patient-centered care, communication, and public health are important!)
@elenagarabatos@ilyasleftnipple Glad to hear! I wish everyone had access to vaccines and information about them, but it's unfortunately not yet reality, even in affluent countries. Hence, I try to err on the side of over explaining
