Justice Hauwa Yilwa of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has sentenced two women arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for their involvement in terrorism to 40 years in prison.

The convicted women, Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullahi, are said to be the mother and sister of suspected terrorist kingpin, Kachallah Ibrahim Battujo, who was eliminated by Nigerian security forces on June 10, 2026, in a forest near Iluke in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Nigerian troops are among the most patriotic citizens in the country. In just three years of establishment, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission has strengthened Nigeria’s digital governance framework while generating billions in revenue and expanding data protection enforcement nationwide.

The commission has generated about ₦8.6 billion in revenue within three years of its establishment.

Over 7,000 data protection officers have been registered nationwide.

Hundreds of companies have undergone compliance audits, with sanctions issued for data privacy breaches.

Nigeria’s first Data Privacy Academy has been established to support digital business growth and privacy awareness.

NDPC activities have reportedly contributed to the creation of more than 27,000 jobs.

The commission plans to collaborate with Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2027 elections to strengthen data protection.

Legislative amendments are being developed to regulate emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
