In #JigawaState, Northwest Nigeria, we introduced our Gamification Fact-Checking Flashcards to Government Day Science and Technical School, Gadadin, Dutse, where over 400 students engaged in a highly interactive fact-checking sensitization session.

In an era where misinformation spreads like wildfire, equipping young minds with fact-checking skills is not just important—it is necessary.

The session opened with an engaging discussion on how falsehoods infiltrate communities and why misinformation is often accepted as truth. Facilitators walked students through real-life cases of political and health-related misinformation, emphasizing the damaging effects of false information on governance and public health. Many students were shocked to learn that common rumors they once believed had no factual basis.

Earlier today, I received the investigative committee’s report on the Majiya fire incident at the Council Chamber, Government House, Dutse.

I sincerely thank the Chairman and all committee members for their hard work and dedication. Despite their busy schedules, they went above and beyond to deliver a report that gets straight to the heart of the matter, addressing the key issues with clarity and precision.

The government will fully support and implement the recommendations outlined in the report. This isn’t just a promise, it’s a reflection of our commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Jigawa State. Moments like this reinforce the importance of leadership that listens and takes action.

To the committee, I can’t thank you enough for the professionalism and sacrifice you’ve demonstrated throughout this process. Your efforts are a shining example of what it means to serve with purpose and accountability.

My prayer is that Allah (SWT) rewards you abundantly for this service. And May He forgive the soul of the departed and heal those that are injured.

Together, we will continue to work toward building a safer, stronger Jigawa State.
