He clearly doesn’t understand the concept of #resilience. 😂😂 My goodness, and he’s the prime minister? Wow! #Jamaica needs to do better in selecting their leaders. These are serious times, you need knowledgeable and competent leaders not show boats that act like they are smart.

As we face the realities of climate change, we must accept that in our lifetimes we will experience more disasters. Another storm will come. So, we must build resilience.

Resilience means that when we are hit by a shock, we get back up. We repair, we rebuild, we return to normalcy. But true resilience is more than simply putting back a sheet of zinc on the roof. It is making sure that when the next wind or rain comes, that zinc stays on. It means adding the hurricane strap, improving the roof design, or in some cases choosing a safer location to live.

We must now live with this mindset. Consider this, Hurricane Beryl only glanced Jamaica, but it severely affected Clarendon, Manchester, and St. Elizabeth. If Melissa had followed the same path, would those communities, still recovering, have been able to withstand it?

These are the realities we must factor into how we build, where we build, and how we prepare. Resilience must guide the choices we make going forward.

From he put JDF in charge of ODPEM I knew he doesn’t have a clue, it’s all for optics. Nobody in high command at JDF have the balls to say PM this is not working? Threat levels are down, now It’s MPs, NGOs, ODPEM, global agencies & social workers to distribute care packages.

Andrea Purkiss used today’s press conference to make a simple, human plea: in a time of national catastrophe, we need less PR and more real help reaching real people. She made it clear she has no issue with the JDF itself, but she strongly opposes the government’s decision to place the burden of distributing care packages solely on them.

She shared that two trucks recently dropped care packages on the main road, yet seniors and residents living in the lanes and inland communities received nothing. Those who are most vulnerable are being left behind.

The people of Eastern Hanover deserve better consistent, targeted relief that reaches every household, not just the ones closest to the main road. We are strong, we are resilient, and we will get our constituency back on its feet together.
