Happy birthday to James Cameron, born today in 1954 in Kapuskasing, ON!
Along with being a directing icon with three Academy Awards & four Golden Globes, Cameron was the first person to ever do a solo descent to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, which he did in 2012.
@atRachelGilmore Did the reporter asking the question also know who these experts are? Seems like his question wouldn't have been an effective dodge if she had just answered it.
@Morbidful I don't get it - could they not have like unplugged it to stop the conveyor belt and just crawled out backwards or waited till it cooled more?
@JackWaltimore I love the "men's work is occasional" accusation. Yeah, you do the dishes everyday and I occasionally dig around the foundation to figure out where the water's coming from. Trade ya?
From my experience the other angle here (besides fuck that guy with a pineapple) is that you can bet your pay cheque he wouldn't have been anywhere near that vocal if baba's dad were there.
Last week I shared a flight with a crying infant who, despite his motherโs best efforts, wasnโt easily calmed in the minutes just before and after takeoff.
I was amazed by the level of anger it provoked among several fellow passengers - and one man in particular, who kept loudly asking if someone canโt โstick something in that kidโs mouth?โ
I can only imagine how uncomfortable the babyโs mother, traveling solo with her child, must have felt.
She did eventually soothe her little guy (who may have cried for a total of five minutes) - but the manโs nastiness really soured the vibe on the flight - which may be why I felt so drawn to this video, which shows a markedly more empathetic community approach.
Alarmed by his first visit to the barber shop, this little guy begins to melt down.
Watch what the other patrons do to distract him from his anxiety and enable the barber to finish his work. Just beautiful.
Remember that weโre all in this together.

@jonovision_man They smoke pot - which usually makes them more anxious so then they smoke some more and then convince themselves that they smoke pot because they have anxiety.
A little over 25 years ago I went to my Nana's funeral. I wore my only suit - a dark blue wool 3 piece that I got from a church sale for $3 and paid to have tailored. It's a sharp suit, still the only one I own. It's been tailored multiple times. I got married in it!
Today I'm taking my son to his Nana's funeral. I've only seen relative about six times in the last 25 years.
Mighty battle between the inner child who wishes a bitch would and the father who thinks underbussing a child for catharsis is bad. (Not really...the latter wins)
