This statement is honestly hilarious people around the world would laugh at it. In Türkiye, for example, not only are citizens required to register, there’s actually a fine for not voting! Yes, you read that right.

According to Turkish election law (Law No. 298), voting is mandatory, and citizens who fail to vote without a valid excuse are fined. In the 2023 elections, the penalty for not voting was around 300 Turkish Liras (about $15 at the time). The amount is determined by the Supreme Electoral Council and collected by the state treasury.

So, complaining about being “forced to register” as if it’s an abuse of rights is not only absurd it’s comedy gold on a global scale.
