One of the coolest stories out of the FIFA World Cup is Pito Lopes.

He was a banker playing for a semi-pro team in Ireland. Someone reached out to him via LinkedIn to join the Cabo Verde National Team.

He thought it was spam so he ignored the message for months.

After he decided to reply, he found out that the invitation was real.

He accepted and eventually became a powerful defender for the team, and, on top of that, Cabo Verde accomplished a tremendous run in their first World Cup ever for the country!

I say all that to say...not all messages from recruiters are spam lol.
