It’s watching us while we observe it 👁️
LHS 1140 b, an “eyeball” exoplanet about 1.7 times Earth’s size and 48 light-years away, sits in its star’s habitable zone and may contain a liquid ocean and an atmosphere. First discovered in 2017, it’s now believed to be a rocky world with 10–20% of its mass made of water. Orbiting a small red dwarf at just the right distance, it remains a strong candidate for hosting liquid water—and potentially life.
