One very nice gentleman was talking about his decision to leave California, how much he loved Florida, and thanking me for how the state is run. Then he paused and said, ‘By the way, I’m Gavin Newsom’s father-in-law,’ and the crowd erupted. California is still driving people away, and in just the last six to nine months, some very high-profile names have moved from California to Florida because they don’t like the way California is governed. My whole life, until recently, people aspired to move to California because it’s naturally such a beautiful state. But it has hemorrhaged businesses, population, and wealth, and that’s the result of bad policies. California didn’t suddenly lose its coastline or all the things that made it attractive. It got consumed by leftist ideology.”
