Today we pause to remember Paul Bright Jr. on CTE Awareness Day.
Paul Bright Jr. was an assistant chef on TV and movie sets. He played tackle football from ages 7–15. A brain autopsy confirmed Stage I CTE & damage to his amygdala, corpus callosum and left ventricle. #facesofcte
Stay tuned for the announcement next week…you won’t want to miss the story of this heroic cheerleader.
Because the industry may let us down, but cheerleaders, lead. And many of us have made an impact in the lives of others, in spite of the darkness.
Her training in an emergency, her quick thinking and access to an AED, set into motion a chain of events that prevented a tragedy. It set the bar high for whomever would receive it in the future.
I’m excited to share we’ve found the next recipient of this most prestigious award.
When I founded the @cheer4safety in 2008, I had no idea how far we would come in my lifetime. That 1st year we gave out the Ashley Marie Burns Award of Excellence to cheer coach, Jen Combest. Jen saved the life of one of her child athletes, that went into cardiac arrest.
Texas middle school cheerleaders suffer first and second degree burns after ‘punishment’ from coach <- 21 years I’ve been preaching about not using exercise as punishment & we still have this happening in cheer. This is child abuse. Period. https://t.co/p7YGXUhrQK
This is so sad to see a child struggle with a coach risking their brain health. Where is the leadership in cheerleading? Why would a coach say this to a child? This should not be happening in 2024. There’s a legal standard of care for return to play.
My feed is clutter with endless Diddy baby oil & other indictment related “jokes”.
When you all wrap your head around how & why it’s used & that there were children involved, you’ll be sick.
Why isn’t the main focus or discussion about the children trafficked?
God help us.
Reminds me of how the cheer sex abuse narrative has been manipulated by industry insiders crusading as advocates. They even fooled some who are truly trying to make a difference. The corp greed playbook is sophisticated, well-developed & has a long history in capitalism.
“This marks the second incident on a football field this month across South Alabama. On Aug. 13, Semaj Wilkins, a freshman football player at New Brockton High School died unexpectedly after collapsing during practice.”
“Obviously it’s something to be concerned about,” Niehoff said, but noted that the numbers are well below where they were decades ago. In 1968, she said, there were 36 deaths reported in high school football.
‘Safest it’s ever been’: Recent high school football deaths not causing alarm <- but a football player has less probable chance of being attacked by a shark or hit by lightning so not all that safe. https://t.co/UieR7alMWq
@hulu@MissPiggy@LoyolaLawSchool Here is the Miss Piggy message from Robert Bowcock (he’s the water expert for most of Erin Brockovich’s lawsuits with various unscrupulous lawyers like Girardi). And btw I love her and think it’s a compliment.
@hulu@MissPiggy@LoyolaLawSchool I am still standing after 21 years of this work.
I have lived through cremating and eulogizing my only son.
I have lived though the criminal trial of Tom Girardi.
I will Iive through AND thrive through anything that is thrown my way.
I have a 💯 success rate.
Try me.
@hulu@MissPiggy@LoyolaLawSchool Now that I have spoken up once again to protect children and even the wrongfully accused. The online harassment and threats of my safety have started once again.
My character is in question. I’m once again nothing but a fat, unqualified b*tch with ulterior motive$.
@hulu@MissPiggy Kim Brubeck of the Sports Compliance Company is not a licensed attorney, never was, never attended law school as she has claimed. And of all school she says she went the law school as Girardi. You can’t make this shit up. The registrar of @LoyolaLawSchool says she never attended.
@hulu@MissPiggy I am still a whistler blower in the largest legal scandal in California history.
But my other work protecting children is never done. So I won’t be quiet about a woman who claims to be a lawyer, who is NOT a lawyer, being in charge of child abuse reports in cheer.
